The Russel K original
Designed from a clean sheet, the Russell K Red 100 took a fresh look at speaker design and produced a legendary product with a dedicated following. Innovative cabinet design gives these speakers a fast-paced and spacious sound that soon set the template for Russell K’s sonic signature. The size is ideal for smaller to medium-sized rooms or even for high performance monitoring in a home studio.
Rigid cabinets with minimal damping for agile sound
What makes Russel K speakers unusual is their completely undamped cabinets. Russel K’s research showed that internal damping slowed down and deadened the sound, making it sound out of synch with the drivers. By removing any damping, the sound became fast-paced and agile, just as the original instrument or voice sounded. For minimal distortion, the cabinets are thin-walled and use internal bracing, controlling cabinet flex to diminish ‘boxy’ sound.
Innovative drive unit loading for natural mid-range
With a shelf at both sides of the woofer unit, mid-range from the driver is contained, with only bass frequencies being able to escape into the cabinet’s full volume. This results in a drastic reduction in mid-range standing waves, meaning that vocals and mid-range instruments sound pure and focused.
Fast paced, powerful bass
Tuned right down to 35Hz, the Red 100 produces an exceptional bass response for the size of speaker. Although the bass output easily matches some smaller floorstanding speakers, the cabinet design ensures that it’s always fast to respond and tuneful.
Smooth yet detailed top-end response
Using a classic, soft dome tweeter with Faraday distortion cancelling copper ring, the top-end response is crystal-clear and exceptionally detailed. Russel K’s extensive product testing has resulted in a minimalist crossover design with just a single component in each driver’s signal path. Removing as many components as possible from the tweeter’s signal path means that the sound is less compromised and more natural, letting you hear as much detail as possible.

For the ideal match for your décor, the Red 100 comes in a range of oak veneer finishes. Chose Black Oak with an off-black baffle for a classic style, Rich Oak with off-black baffle for the best match with warmer room tones or regular, light Oak with a white baffle for a more contemporary style.
