Product Information
”If you still have a large collection of CDs and really want to hear exactly what is stored on them we can’t think of a better way to do it at this price level than this TEAC.” ’What Hi-Fi?’ – 5 Star review.
Iconic VRDS mechanism
Teac’s VRDS-7 of the 1990s was an iconic CD player that’s still revered today for its exceptional transport mechanism. Today’s Teac VRDS-701 updates the transport, helping to make it an icon of its time. The VRDS (Vibration-Free Disc-Clamping System) clamps the CD to a platter, stabilising rotation and reducing vibration. The entire mechanism sits on an isolated sub-chassis that quells any vibrations transmitted though the casing. The result of this thorough engineering is smoother disc rotation, meaning that the error correcting circuits have less to do which, in turn, leads to purer, more natural sound.
Premium quality DAC
Teac’s newly developed Delta Sigma DAC (Digital to Analogue Convertor) uses discrete components for the most precise sound possible. With coaxial, optical and USB inputs, you can upgrade the sound from your TV, games console and PC, all via the CD player – all that’s needed is for the music source to have a digital output.
Fully-balanced circuits for outstanding sound quality
From the DAC conversion to the signal outputs, the VRDS-701 is fully-balanced at every stage. This enables the high quality circuitry to resist distortion and to give the cleanest and most accurate sound quality possible. The dual mono construction separates the left and right channels for much of the signal path, further enhancing the soundstage and musical detail.
Play back Hi-Res music files file USB
Connect your home computer or laptop via USB, and the VRDS-701 becomes compatible with Hi-Res music files up to 32 bit/384kHz and 22.5MHz DSD. It can also upscale signals, enhancing the quality of any digital signal inputs.
Connects directly to a power amp
Thanks to a built-in variable gain amp, the VDRS-701 can be connected directly to a power amp. Teac’s QVCS (Quad Volume Control System) uses discrete components for smooth, low noise distortion volume adjustment. If you’re using purely digital music components, you might find that you don’t need a preamp at – simply connect directly to a power amplifier or even a pair of active speakers. For ease of use, a physical volume dial is fitted to the Teac’s front panel.
Dedicated headphone amp
Linked to the volume control, a dedicated headphone amplifier delivers a high output, low distortion signal to a wide range of headphones. More powerful than many similar built-in sockets, the VRDS-701 maximises your headphone’s full potential.
Individual toroidal power transformers
For the most stable power supply and smooth dynamics, Teac have specified high-capacity, toroidal power transformers. For ultimate precision, there are no fewer than three in total. CD mechanism, analogue and digital sections each have their own transformers, giving precise control of every element of the player.
‘Pin-Point’ feet for mechanical isolation
Incorporating two separate metal sections within a single housing, Teac’s Pin-Point feet provide highly effective isolation from surface vibrations. The two-part feet use an enclosed ‘spike and cup’ solution to effectively disperse vibrations. With three feet fitted, the unit remains stable on all types of surfaces.
Full metal chassis
Designed to match Teac’s other Reference 700 products, the VRDS-701 fits right into a Teac system. The robust metal chassis uses a floating structure to keep the transformers isolated from the delicate electronics. The ribbed side panels both aid cooling and function as further dampening, helping to reduce distortion to an absolute minimum.
Enjoy ultimate CD performance, and more, with the Teac VRDS-701.
