The Atoll Electronique HD120 is a powerful headphone amp that also doubles as a pre-amp and DAC, giving you full control of a desktop system.
Headphone amp, pre-amp and DAC, in one
Designed primarily as a high quality headphone amp, the Atoll Electronique HD120 is ideal for optimising the sound from your cans. More than this, however, with twin line inputs, an analogue output and a dedicated volume control, it also works as a pre-amplifier, too. Simply add a dedicated power amp, such as the matching MA100, and you’ve got a two-box, just-add-speakers system. With its wide range of digital inputs, including Bluetooth, the HD120 also works as a standalone DAC (Digital to Analogue Converter).

With a power output of 1.4 watts (with 32 ohms headphones), the HD120 has ample power for driving a wide range of different headphone designs, even the least efficient. Twin 6.35mm sockets let you connect two pairs of headphones simultaneously.
High precision sound
More than being just about power, the HD120 is about sound quality too. Starting with the ALPS volume control; this delivers smooth, noise-free control, right down to the lowest levels. No fewer than three power transformers supply eight regulated power supplies, including four specifically for audio stages. These help boost clarity and reduce distortion. The dual mono circuit construction ensures enhanced soundstaging, with improved separation between instruments.
Connect to your computer via USB-B
Thanks to its USB-B interface, the HD120 is ideal for desktop audio. Connect to your PC (Windows requires the use of a specific downloadable driver), Mac or laptop via USB-B and stream your choice of music. Like the other digital inputs, the USB-B is compatible with Hi-Res Audio signals up to 24-bit/192 kHz for outstanding audio clarity.
Range of handy connections
In addition to the USB-B input, the HD120 is equipped with a comprehensive range of connections. There are two analogue inputs that would suit a CD player without digital out and a turntable fitted with a built-in phono pre-amp. In addition to this, there are digital coaxial and optical inputs – perfect for a CD player, TV, games console and more. For an easy connection with your smartphone, simply pair up and stream audio via wireless Bluetooth.
