Marantz Model 30 (Silver/Gold)
Stereo Amplifier
£2,299
”The focus is completely on the music, and not the 'hi-fi-ness', which can only be a good thing.” ’Hi-Fi News’ – Outstanding Product. Tested with matching SACD30N.
Master-tuned for reference sound quality
Painstakingly developed over three years, the Model 30 took hundreds of hours of Marantz’s finest technicians to produce this labour of love. The Model 30 is a fully discrete design, meaning it uses dozens of carefully selected components and separate circuits for the pre, power, phono and headphone sections – rather than combining them together. With Marantz’s own HDAM modules fitted, the sound is tuned with absolute precision.
Sonic precision – with HDAM
This premium Marantz amp uses Marantz's own HDAM-SA3 (Hyper-Dynamic Amplifier Module) circuits. These bespoke op-amps use surface-mount metal-film resistors for greater temperature stability. The upshot is a cleaner, less distorted sound that’s delivered with perfect clarity.
The power to move you
The Model 30 isn’t just about exquisite detail and realism. Featuring a lightning-fast SMPS transformer, it delivers an effortless 100 watts per channel (200 watts per channel to a 4 ohm speaker load). Combined with the high spec output capacitors, this gives the Model 30 the sort of dynamic range, depth and sheer power that you’d more usually associate with a separate pre/power amp combo.
Top quality phono preamp – Musical Premier Phono EQ
If you’ve got a turntable, you’re in for a treat with the Model 30’s phono preamp. Designed to get the very best from your vinyl, this phono preamp uses the shortest, simplest signal paths for the cleanest sound. The Marantz Premium Musical Phono EQ uses two-stage amplification for lower distortion. Marantz’s HDAM op-amps also play a part in producing more accurate equalisation for cleaner, more open sound. Unlike lower grade phono preamps, it’s also adjustable to suit your cartridge.
Adjustable to suit your cartridge
Featuring no fewer than four cartridge settings, the Marantz’s phono pre-amp matches up with the vast majority of cartridges. Choose between MM (Moving Magnet), MC (Moving Coil) High, MC Mid and MC Low for the correct match with your turntable’s cartridge. Covering almost every cartridge out there, this amp will see you through years of turntable cartridge upgrades.
All the connectivity you need. None that you don’t
The Model 30 is unashamedly analogue, meaning there are no digital inputs. What you do get are the highest quality components, with the sound to match, and all the analogue sockets you could ask for. As well as the 4-level phono pre-amp, there are five line level RCA phono inputs and a recording output. Pre/power sockets let you upgrade either the pre or power sections in the future.
Premium build quality
Pick up the Model 30 and you can appreciate it’s built to last. Using thick, non-magnetic aluminium panels and a steel top cover, the amp resists both mechanical and electrical interference. The input sockets are machined from brass and the speaker terminals use high-purity nickel-plating for the best quality contact possible.
Treat your music to an amp that does it justice. The Marantz Model 30.

Bass and Treble from
Just perfect
Review of Marantz Model 30
My old Denon amp that I have had for approximately 27 years started playing up so I decided to look around for a replacement. The most important feature for me was to find a amplifier with bass and treble adjustments as I don’t subscribe to the opinion that they can degrade the sound quality.
The reasons why I would not buy any amp without these adjustments are as follows.
Not all studio recordings are perfect, I have one record that I purchased recently which is way to bright on the treble to the point that it’s not a pleasurable listening experience which is ironic as the MP3 version sounds fine. It is easy to improve the sound quality with bass and treble adjustments to make the vinyl version sound really good.
Not all speakers sound the same, if your speakers are to warm or bright you can adjust the sound to your own taste, but if you don’t have these adjustments you’re stuck with the sound the amp provides which will not always be good.
Most amps that have bass and treble adjustments on the market (there are only a few available these days) have a bypass for the bass and treble to improve the sound quality and I have never heard any difference when you switch this feature on or off, so having a bass and treble in my opinion will not degrade the sound quality.
I really only had a choice of two amps that I would buy one of which was a digital amp the other a Marantz Model 30 analogue amp. Richer Sounds offered to loan me the Marantz for 10 days to try with my system, I really appreciate this level of service as there is less of a chance I will not be happy with my purchase.
The Marantz Model 30 amp is very well made, the knobs have just the right amount of feel to them and work with very good precision and the remote is also made to a very high standard. Marantz didn’t just stop with designing a superb warm and pure sound with great detail and clarity, but they also bucked the trend with the styling giving the amp a very distinctive look compared to nearly all of the other boring looking amps that are available. So full credit to Marantz for making such a beautifully designed amp, I am really grateful to them for making just what I was looking for, the perfect amplifier.
The hardest decision was whether to go for the black or silver finish, Olivia from the Cambridge branch (the guys from this branch always give a good service) sent me the black version to try and I was very tempted to opt for this, but in the end I decided to go for the silver because it looks better in my room. I also ordered at the same time the Marantz CD60 in silver which arrived quickly but I had to wait a few weeks for the amp to arrive, was it worth the wait? absolutely.

Review of combo Marantz powering Focal 926 speaker
After the patience of the Liverpool richer sound guys. I took the plunge and bought the maranta n30 and focal 926. The guidance of richer sounds has resulted in a fantastic amp and sound system I have pleasure now listening to.

Excellent build quality, sound and facilities.
A very recent purchase, the Model 30 has the most substantial build quality of any amp I have owned with high quality and sturdy controls and sockets. Importantly for me it accommodates both MM and MC phone cartridges and with variable output for the MC. It also has a tape recorder Play/Record facility. The audio reproduction is excellent. It is also aesthetically very attractive.

Superb Marantz {again}
This was bought to replace a 23 year old Marantz PM-14 KI-Sig, a stunning piece of kit in itself, but unfortunately a capacitor has gone resulting in an audible clicking.
This beauty is a worthy replacement. The same Marantz sound, warm but incredibly detailed, even more so than the amp it has replaced. The thing is also built like a tank and I'm sure I will have many years enjoyable listening to look forward to. Many thanks to Richer Sounds online ordering service for its help and for a prompt delivery service.

Should I spend this much on an amp?
Many years ago I bought my first integrated amp from Richer Sounds and it seems I have bought my last, at least for a good few years.
I play mainly vinyl and the phono in the Model 30 is brilliant, as is the rest of the amp. Thanks to the Plymouth store for their help and advice on the phone.
If you are sceptical of what improvements that an amp at this price can deliver then give this a trial at home. I doubt that you will be sending it back. It is that good.
