Product Information
With its optimised cartridge housing, the Ortofon 2MR Black takes award-winning sound to low-profile turntables.
Award-winning sound from low-profile turntables
Ortofon’s 2MR models use a slimline body for full compatibility with low-profile turntables. With its near-flush stylus fitting and absence of spacers, it saves 3mm in height over the regular version – making all the difference with fitting some tonearms. In other respects, the Ortofon 2MR Black matches the regular 2M Black model, meaning you get flagship MM sound from this high reviewed cartridge.
Premium Moving Magnet sound quality
If you’re using a Moving Magnet phonostage then the Ortofon 2MR Black is one of the finest cartridges you can buy. Suitable for decks costing right up to £2000 - £3000, the 2MR Black can withstand many upgrades to the rest of your kit before it’s out of its depth. Its natural and musical sound lets you forget about the system and simply enjoy the music – exactly what all good hi-fi should do.
Top of the range – diamond performer
Standing near the top of Ortofon’s impressive 2MR range, the 2MR Black has an impressive spec to rival the best. Tipped with a Shibata diamond stylus, as used on the reference quality Ortofon MC Jubilee, the 2MR Black offers a wide contact area with your vinyl. A wide contact area means deeper bass, more detail from the top end and less damage to your precious records.
Superior construction
Using a body made from Hopelex, the 2MR Black is extremely rigid while also eliminating unwanted resonances. This reduces distortion, bringing detail to the fore and promotes a more natural sound. Attention to detail extends to split pole pins with silver-plated copper wire – for the most musical transition of sound.
Hear just how good vinyl can sound, with the Ortofon 2MR Black.
