"Denon has done it again - the D-M40DAB is a seriously impressive micro system for the money."What Hi-Fi Sound & Vision Award Winner 2016

The small system that's big on sound quality
It might be small but the Denon DM40 DAB still puts sound quality first. "Simple & Straight" circuit design minimizes distortion from the input selector, electronic volume control and power amp for sound purity and very low levels of distortion. Working alongside this, Triple Noise Reduction Design (TNRD) works to preserve the signal quality for the most accurate, life-like sound. Make no mistake, the Denon D-M40DAB is still one of the best-sounding systems in its class.

USB to get the most from your Apple iPhone or iPod
The front-mounted USB socket is ideal for connecting up your Apple iPod or iPhone and playing back music. Not only is this fully compatible with playback, it also charges your iPod or iPhone, even when in standby - making a charging dock unnecessary.

Flexible connectivity; now includes two digital inputs
Although a brilliant system in its own right, the DM40DAB reaches out to your other sources, too. If you've got a TV, games console or TV set-top box, you can now plug them in using the two standard optical inputs. An analogue AUX input is also included for older sources.

Pump up the bass with an optional subwoofer
By fitting a subwoofer output, Denon gives you a wider choice of speaker options. Instead of medium-sized or floorstanding speakers you can use an active subwoofer with small satellite speakers - the choice is now yours.

DAB radio
The Denon DM40 DAB comes with an impressive sounding tuner radio that's comprehensively equipped. Featuring DAB+, DAB and FM (RDS), the tuner has many radio eventualities covered both for the present and, because of DAB+, for the future, too.

The perfect balance of sound and convenience, the Denon DM40 DAB still sets the standard.

DENON DM40 DAB is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 274.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simplicity and Quality I needed to replace my ageing Hi-Fi separates. I am ageing too, and am diffident with the terminology and wide range of capabilities of modern technology. All I needed was a CD player and a DAB radio tuner, preferably all in one unit. When I rang Richer Sounds Liverpool and explained what I was looking for, Damien couldn't have been more helpful. I ordered the Denon (delivered within 24 hours) and set it up along with smart new Q speakers, also from Richer. I am so chuffed with the quality of sound and ease of set up and operation. It's exactly what I was hoping for and then some. Richer Sounds have turned a potentially stressful situation into a all-round pleasurable and successful experience. You can't ask for more than that!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very impressive for its size and good value Sound quality and volume are very good. Like the connectivity as it is straight forward. The radio was easy to tune and it ran our ipods with no problems. It even played the memory stick I use in the car (mp3 music) but I couldn't find any way to display the files (lists by album, artist etc). Overall very happy with the unit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A classy little bargain. A few years ago, my wife's patience with my large stack of hi-fi units began to run out; at the same time, the system that I had was showing its age. I tried a Bose. It was OK, but nothing special - my wife loved its compact design... Recently the Bose has been causing problems: time for a change! Richer Sounds in Exeter, after listening to my requirements, suggest this Denon unit coupled with Dali Zensor 1 speakers - and, at last, my wife and I are both delighted with the result: minimal 'clutter' and a remarkably good sound costing only about £400 for the lot. I play a wide variety of music from very quiet solo lute music to polyphonic choral music to Chicago blues to Sibelius symphonies - and I am hearing things in my recordings that I had not noticed before, such as individual instruments' entries in certain passages even in the louder, full-blooded passages of the Sibelius symphonies; and the tonal subtleties of the lute are handled beautifully.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Compact quality Wanted a compact CD player for my husband who is not ready to give up his collection and go entirely digital! This has proved a superb choice as we've also been able to use it as receiver for our turntable with the addition of a pre-amp, and the sound quality for both CDs and records is great.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good unit for the price I bought this to use in my bedroom with an existing pair of speakers. The quality was better than I expected and it produces a lovely balanced sound. The basics are easy to set up but some of the more advanced required me to print out the online manual as I couldn't work with the on screen only instructions. The ability to use USB memory sticks is great as it allows me to produce playlists and not have to connect up my laptop

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent sound quality at reasonable cost The unit is compact and easy to use, though the lack of a hard copy user manual was disappointing. Not everyone has access to a comuter to read the user manual on the enclosed cd. I had a problem initially in that the aerial suuplied with the unit was not sufficiently powerful to tune into the national BBC stations; Mark in customer services recommended I obtain an amplified aerial and this solved the problem. I was most impressed with the way Mark kept in touch until the problem was resolved, without prompting from me. I have always found Richer Sounds have offered an outstanding customer service function, unlike many of their competitors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very satisfied with Denon DM40 DAB Does exactly what I'd hoped and expected. Neat design, great sound.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Versatile and powerful hi-fi system Most of all I wanted to listen to my collection of CDs, but it was important to me that the system is also versatile and expandable. I was happy to see two optic inputs (I hooked up my PS4 to the system easily) and there is also an analogue input, so I can add a turntable later on. At first I was wondering about getting a system with Bluetooth connection (and actually it is now a feature in the new model of DENON DM41), but to be honest I came to a conclusion I don’t care for it that much. This model has a USB input so you can plug in a memory stick (it reads FLAC files too) or just play music straight from your iPod. I think the CD drive makes a bit more noise than I would expect, but to be honest you’d have to have your head right next to the device for it to be distracting you. All in all, one week in I am really happy with the purchase and I would definitely recommend it. I got the system in a bundle with Mission LX2 speakers and my music sounds better than ever.
