Top quality Gyger S stylus for the greatest detail
The highlight of the Goldring 1042 cartridge is the Gyger S stylus used. These diamond tips are superfine, letting them get deeper into the record’s groove. The deeper the stylus goes the more detailed the sound. Because the stylus goes deeper but not wider it also has the beneficial effect of not damaging your vinyl as cheaper styli can.

Very nice cartridge, smooth but bright.easy to mount, can be from fixed underneath. As I have a Thorens TD150, top mounting was not an option.

Great MM cartridge
Got this a month ago and fitted it on my Planar 3. This cartridge has great timing, bass response and mid-range. Take the time on fitting though as it can be a little tricky but the time spent will be well rewarded.

Run it in !
I bought one of these cartridges with a Technics SL1210GR having read reasonable reviews on-line about the combination.
On first hearing, I nearly chucked it in the bin. It sounded awful.
However, after a careful setting up (it is a bit fussy in that respect) and a few hours use it settled down.
Now I am impressed. This is a very good cartridge and sounds a lot more expensive than it is. It is also very even sounding - not bass or treble biased.
Although fiddly to install because of the body shape and being a bit needy in terms of setup, I would recommend it.
All you need is a little care and patience - it will be rewarded !
For anyone thinking of buying one for a SL1200, fit a headshell spacer or the VTA adjustment can't be set low enough.
