Everything that Monitor Audio has developed over many decades of speaker manufacturing is refined to the highest standards, making the Platinum 3G range a true reference from which to judge others.
Ultimate top-end performance For the ultimate in treble response, the Platinum range features Monitor Audio’s premium a MPD III (Micro Pleated Diaphragm) tweeter. Working by squeezing the pleats, like a super-fast accordion, gives the treble a sensational response – right up to a stratospheric 60,000Hz. What this means is you get totally uncompressed harmonics for a spacious and lifelike top-end performance. Simply put, if it’s on the recording, these speakers will reveal it.
Dedicated midrange As a 3-way speaker, the Platinum 200 3G features a drive unit dedicated to the midrange. With a 3-layer, aluminium and carbon fibre hybrid cone, the RDT III (Rigid Diaphragm Technology) delivers absolute cone precision and the lowest levels of distortion. What this means is that vocals sound so realistic that you feel you could reach out to touch them.
Impressive bass response Featuring powerful motor systems with extra-large magnets, the Platinum 200 G3’s bass hits hard for this size of speaker. Highly rigid driver chassis’ ensure the cone is held with absolute precision, further reducing the potential for distortion. Twin, long-throw woofers mean that the bass response isn’t just tight and dynamic but it’s also deep, too. With a frequency response that drops all the way down to 32Hz, you can be assured of not missing out on the deeper beats.
Ultra-low distortion cabinet To reduce cabinet distortion to a minimum, Monitor Audio use laminated layers of MDF (Medium Density Fibreboard). This takes the form of a curved, internally braced cabinet that’s between 18-21mm thick, with a 36mm super-thick front baffle for incredible structural rigidity.
Choice of sumptuous finishes Matching the peerless sound quality is the luxurious finish. Choose between luxurious Piano Ebony or Piano Black in high gloss finishes, or the lighter hue of Pure Satin White. All three sumptuous colourways are finished to the highest standard, with no fewer than 16 layers of lacquer on the gloss models. As a finishing touch, the cabinets are further embellished with etched inlays to highlight the craftsmanship.
