I've had this AV receiver for nearly 3 years now so thought it was about time to write a review. I use it in in a 7:2 system.
The main reason for buying this apart from it ticking the main format boxes, Atmos DTS X, is that you can run a line level output to another amplifier for stereo listening.
For surround playback this also reduces the load on the Onkyo psu which is a bonus if you like to listen to your movies loud!
It also has Tidal and Spotify support so it is possible to control music playback from their respective smartphone apps,
It supported by Playfi and Onkyo controller apps.
It has an AKM (AK4458) 384 kHz/32-bit DAC is THX certified and high current amplifier audio.
You can pay more for just a DAC
Highly recommended!

Buyer beware
I bought this Xmas 2019. It's now semi operative. HDR has gone (colours are crazy) as have two third if the HDMI ports. Wished I'd taken out the now free 6 year warranty as getting your receiver fixed by what is now Onkyo is impossible. Their own customer service has confirmed this. I'm up a creak without a paddle.
Sound is not as good as older models. Lacks punch. Was very disappointed and regretted selling my old Onkyo.

Great replacement for my previous Onkyo.
I had to replace my previous Onkyo Amplifier because it malfunctioned and they were unable to fix it. I had a look online and this was the best match as good or better than what I previously had. The sound is awesome and we are glad we bought it.
