Following on from a long line of award-winning legends, the Yamaha RXV681 more than lives up to expectations.

Sockets for all - including your turntable

With six HDMI sockets, including one at the front, the RXV681 has fifty percent more inputs than lower models. For full compatibility with the latest UHD 4K sources, three of them are compatible with HDCP2.2. Audio inputs include an MM phono connection for your turntable - perfect for making this AV receiver the hub of your music as well as movie entertainment.

Ready for DTS:X
DTS:X is the flagship processor from this highly respected tech company. It literally pushes the boundaries of what you can expect from home cinema. This highly sophisticated processor renders images in three dimensions that conventional processing can't match. It also offers other advantages such as the ability to boost the spatial effect of conventional DTS and easily adapts with your existing speaker configuration.

Dolby Atmos
Optimised for Dolby Atmos, you can be amongst the first to experience the wonder of Dolby Atmos in your own home. Producing a multi-dimensional and totally immersive sound, Dolby Atmos has been hailed as the greatest advance in surround sound for 20 years - so don't miss out!

Hi-Res Audio playback
At the heart of the Yamaha's digital processing are top quality Burr Brown DACs (Digital to Analogue Convertor). These not only provide punchy and lifelike sound but also facilitate the playback of High Resolution audio formats. The RXV681 is compatible with a wide range of HD audio formats, including DSD 5.6 MHz and FLAC 192kHz-24-bit for exceptional sound quality.

YPAO-R.S.C for optimal sound in your room
YPAO-R.S.C. stands for Reflected Sound Control and adapts the RXV681 to get the very best sound quality in your room. By measuring reflected sound it can make corrections via the DSP (Digital Sound Processor) to make sure the sound is as natural as possible. Even better, all this is done at the touch of a button and takes no extra effort to achieve.

UHD 4K Upscaling
Another great feature with the RXV681 is HDMI and UHD 4K upscaling. This means that, once plugged into your UHD 4K TV, Blu-rays and 1080p games can be upscaled to 4K UHD resolution, giving sharper more detailed pictures. HDMI upscaling means that sources connected via component or composite, such as older DVD players or games consoles can be outputted by the single HDMI output.

MusicCast for music all around your home
The Yamaha RXV681 is part of Yamaha's hugely impressive network audio system, MusicCast. With MusicCast you can control all your compatible Yamaha MusicCast products via your smartphone or tablet. Play the same music on all the components or split the sound into different zones for different moods in each room; the choice is yours. The MusicCast CONTROLLER app lets you operate the system around your home and change settings quickly and easily.

Advanced networking including Apple AirPlay and Bluetooth
As well as MusicCast, the RXV681 also has built-in Apple AirPlay, letting you stream music from your Apple iPod Touch, iPhone, iPad or other compatible Apple device, wirelessly. You can also view data such as song title, artist name as well as album art* via the AV receiver's on-screen display. *Some models don't support album art display. If you use another brand of smartphone or tablet then you've also got Bluetooth, for easy music streaming from your portable device.

Wi-Fi, DLNA and a smart app for effortless streaming
Connecting to your home network is easy with built-in Wi-Fi. A DLNA certified connection also makes streaming a breeze. You can access your stored music from PC, laptop or NAS drive and listen to Internet radio stations and music services such as Spotify. Another great feature is the downloadable Apple or Android app that lets you control many of the receiver's functions from your smartphone, iPod Touch, iPhone, iPad or tablet.

For all-round AV supremacy, the RXV681 remains the one to beat.

YAMAHA RXV681 is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 51.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love It !! Brilliant bit of Kit. This is a complete hub for all your entertainment. Amazing sound quality. This YAMAHA RXV681 goes very nicely with my other purchase that day. Dali speakers and a project turn table. I love the fact that YAMAHA has kept the look of a proper chunky bit a equipment but has all the required technology of the present day like MusicCast.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent connectivity, and intuitive apps I have had this AV receiver 2 weeks, and I am thoroughly impressed with its slick and professional feel, great sound quality and brilliant connectivity. I have successfully set up zone 2 speakers, multiple inputs and options and it provides a clear and concise output on both tv and music alike. Only slight con is the menu interface and knowing where certain settings are located or how to access them. I'm sure this will become clear as I use the system. Richer sounds very helpful in store and provided a good deal on this receiver just prior to release of this years models

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amplified Talent and Character. The RXV-681 is the replacement to my 15 year old Technics system. Two things instantly impressed me with this amp. 1). The build quality is amazing; sturdy, good looking and for its size, discreet. 2). The connectivity; ample HDMIs (ARC compatible with 4K passthorough and upscalling) phono, optical, component AV etc. Everything anyone would need for a home cinema. The sound quality is incredible! I have this amp connected via bi-amp to Bowers & Wilkins 685's, with the Yamaha's NS-SW050 subwoofer, my neighbours are sure to complain. The initial set up process was straight forward, quick and easy. The accompanying app makes navigating and controlling this amp a breeze. One gripe, is the user interface. Whilst not the worst, the graphics are pixelated and system navigation can be confusing. Pleased, does not quite explain how elated I am with this product. I cannot wait to get home and play music from this thing, let alone watching movies and geeking out over video games.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great all rounder for the price. I purchased this to replace an aging Pioneer AV receiver that didn't have HDMI but was worried that the Yamaha wouldn't be able match the sound quality and strength of the Pioneer. It can and does.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Amp, Amazing sound and great connectivity. Richer Sounds recommended this Amp as it was the only one for the price that would output to a Sonos connect so i could play something on the amp and have it playing over the whole of my Sonos system as well, So far it works great. The sound is great and the Amp has amazing option for connecting over bluetooth,Airplay and music cast. Bit let down by the clunky complicated remote but the App is great and lets you organise it similar to iOS and rename hdmi and inputs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from RXV381 - an entertainment hub I bought the RXV681 largely on the strength of its connectivity, as my 15 year old receiver did not have HDMI inputs or Bluetooth, and I was also having to use a phono amp for my turntable. Having connected it up we now refer to it as the hub, because most of our TV connected devices are now running through it, including freesat, Blu-Ray player, BT box, Apple TV and PS3. I'm not even sure I need the Apple TV anymore as the RXV681 also inludes Airplay. As I have only had it for a week there are some functions I haven't even set up , while others are more future proof such as the capability for streaming. As far as the sound goes I am impressed so far, with the sound seeming clearer and with more presence, especially on phono, even though my previous receiver was good. There is still a lot to try out but so far I am very satisfied. My one grumble is that the manual is provided as a CD rather than a booklet, which is a nuisance as I don't have line of sight from my PC to the receiver

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Top Features and Top quality sound I purchased this amp to replace a Denon AVR amp, that was several years old. Remembering my first AV amp (which was a Yamaha AV-33, now some bought from Richer Sounds some 27 years ago and still going strong and sounding good) I decided to look at another Yamaha. This amp has all the features I could need, plenty of HDMI inputs, 3D pass through 4K compatible, Atmos and plenty of power, with features I didn't know I needed such as bluetooth and airplay - it should be pretty future-proof. The amp was very quick to set up and a doddle to automatically calibrate the speakers. I like the fact you can rename inputs to suit the equipment you have plugged into each socket. An essential feature, in this modern HDMI age, lipsync works very well. The sound from this thing is amazing with loads of power and depth to film soundtracks. It does a great job of keeping dialogue audible at night, without having to ride the volume level at lower volumes. A great performer.
