”The M2 throws out a sound big enough to match the biggest of TV screens.”– ‘What Hi-Fi’ 2018 award winner.

BMR speakers for a powerful and 180 degree spacious sound

Just like its soundbar kin, the M2 uses BMR (Balanced Mode Radiator) drive units. These combine the advantages of both flat panel and conventional speakers to give a truly powerful sound without distortion. Another advantage is BMR drivers give superb spatial imaging meaning that you can sit anywhere in the room and be immersed by the spacious 180 degree sound.

Built-in subwoofer
Rather than using a separate subwoofer, the M2 has the subwoofer within its main casing. This makes for a neater design and less wiring. Using a dedicated 150mm x 100mm drive unit, plus its own amplifier, the M2 has little trouble in reproducing deep, powerful movie soundtracks.

MoviEQ for cinema excitement
Making the most of action movies, the MoviEQ setting gives increased bass and heightened dynamics for the perfect ‘edge of the seat’ cinema excitement.

Bluetooth music streaming with NFC
As well as making your TV sound great, the M2 also has Bluetooth music streaming. Simply pair your device and stream music from your smartphone, tablet or Bluetooth-equipped laptop or desktop. Stream your music library or use a music streaming service such as Spotify, Apple Music or the iPlayer Radio and the M3 becomes a compact music system. With NFC (Near Field Connection), a simple tap from your smartphone is often all you need to do to connect.

HDMI with ARC and other great connectivity for system flexibility
With HDMI connectivity you can link up the M2 using the connection that gives the best quality and convenience. Thanks to the ARC (Audio Return Channel) you also only need a single HDMI cable between soundbar and TV to hear the sound from the TV's onboard receiver. There are also optical digital and two analogue inputs for other sources such as a set-top box, Blu-ray/DVD and MP3 player. With the analogue inputs you've a choice of 3.5mm mini-jack or RCA phono.

Boost the sound of your TV and smartphone’s sound, with the Q Acoustics M2.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great sound for price. Bought this for my inlaws and it's a great sound for the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Underrated gem This soundbase is superb. Great clarity, plenty of power and a high quality build. Over look this and you will regret it. Fantastic value.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great sound, great value. If like me you have no room for a sub-woofer on the floor near the TV, a soundbase like the Q-M2 is worth considering, since it has a sub-woofer built in. It's typical of British hi-fi - the sound is crystal clear, with a very balanced sound. I actually prefer the sound to the bass-heavy American products from Bose and Sonos. I was concerned that a small sub-woofer on the TV cabinet would vibrate the cabinet too much and cause rattling noices but there are no such problems. I'm very pleased with my purchase. The Q-M2 has HDMI-ARC, optical and RCA phono audio inputs. Not all TVs have HDMI-ARC (don't confuse HDMI-ARC with plain HDMI) and the Q-M2 comes only with an HDMI cable. If you will be using the optical or RCA phono inputs, you'll need to supply cables. HDMI-ARC means everything is controlled by the TV remote with no configuration needed - just plugin it in and go. This is how I have it set up. I was surprised that some more expensive products like Sonos do not have an HDMI input. You'll need some sort of cabinet under the TV since the Q-M2 is quite deep and sits either on top of the cabinet or on a shelf inside. If you want to sit the TV on top of the Q-M2, check the Q-M2 measurements carefully in case your TV base/legs won't fit. Check your TV weight too. My 2010 Panasonic Plasma TV was close to the max weight limit (25kg) to sit on top of the Q-M2. I have an Amazon FireTV stick connected to the TV. The Q-M2 works with Netflix and other SmartTV content played using the FireTV stick. As well as improving the TV sound, the Q-M2 is a great bluetooth speaker. My family plays music to the Q-M2 using various Android phones, an IPad and Alexa. All devices paired with no issues. My only gripe is that when the TV is turned off, Alexa connects itself to the Q-M2 automatically because it thinks the Q-M2 is available when the TV is off and therefore prevents the Q-M2 going into Standby straight away. This is because the Q-M2 is designed for use as either a TV or bluetooth speaker, intelligently switching automatically between the two uses. The TV gets priority, hence Alexa connects when the TV is turned off. Three small buttons and a multi-coloured status indicator sit towards the front of the top panel. I'd prefer these to be on the front panel since our TV stand covers them when it sits on top of the Q-M2. These buttons (volume and standby) aren't essential when using HDMI-ARC but the status indicator would be handy to see which input mode the Q-M2 is in. As others have noted, the Q-M2 remote is cheap and nasty. Once the Q-M2 is set up, however, the remote isn't needed. The volume settings are remembrered separately for TV and Bluetooth inputs, so once set, let the TV or phone devices control the volume. Our remote stays in a drawer. The Q-M2 does the essential things really well and because it doesn't come with features like multi-room or built-in Spotify/Alexa, you pay only for what you need. Built-in features can be great but they can quickly become out of date or obsolete. My FireTV stick makes the Smart features of my TV obsolete. If the sound system had Spotify/Alexa built-in, how likely is it that the manufacturer would update the software to keep them up to date? Overall rating - 5 stars. Great sound, great value, great connectivity.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic sound and very easy to set up and use I bought the Q Acoustic M2 a couple of months ago and it’s really transformed our viewing experience. It’s very easy to set up and super easy to use and sounds great. I have also connected it to my sonos system via a sonos connect and it automatically switches mode when you start streaming music. It really well made and has a solid feel. I’m a big fan!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy install, good sound improvement Purchased 3 weeks ago, easy to install, sound quality has improved but not as much as I hoped, but that might be my 11 year old TV. Not quite sure what difference the EQ button makes to overall sound. I am using phono jacks that I believe might add some noise to the TV output, but only option I have at the moment without buying TV with HDMI output

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to set up, easy on the ears Its functions are basic but it was easy to set up and the sound is excellent. As well as the TV it's paired with my Brennan B2 and it works equally well with music.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Much improved sound experience I bought this in January 2019 after just having purchased a new flat-screen tv, whose built-in speakers sound really tinny. The sound base has made a big difference and watching telly or listening to the radio is now much more enjoyable, especially music programmes. The unit provides a rich bass sound which the tv's own speakers can't match. The only downside is that sometimes, after changing channels, the sound switches off and I have to turn it back on manually.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Most definitely not a home cinema system! I just wanted to share my experiences of this soundbase. I first gave this a whirl with The Greatest Showman, it did a stirling job of that movie, but on further investigation it appears that was due to the soundtrack consisting of mostly music. After this I thought I'd stretch its cinematic legs and popped Sherlock Holmes (2009) into my Blu-ray player, a superb Hans Zimmer soundtrack and lots of dynamic moments, but it just fell flat, the sound was simply loud, not immersive. I thought the soundtrack may have been poorly produced (despite knowing it isn't, but thought I'd investigate anyway...), so I tried the first Transformers movie, again I know how good the soundtrack is, but once again, it was underwhelming. To summarise this is a soundbase to enhance your general viewing, mainly vocals, it's NOT a home cinema, not by a long shot! The M2 takes a very "hi-fi" approach to sound, it's clear, detailed and neutral, which can be great for music, but movies are a different ballgame, cinemas are equipped with dynamic sound systems for a reason... I also noted that at times the remote/unit itself can be very unresponsive (much like Q Acoustics "customer service" dept), it also doesn't retain input or EQ settings so they have to be selected every time you power on (even from standby), which is irritating. On the whole, I miss the reasonably cheap Panasonic 2.1 system it replaced, the only saving grace is that it's neater!
