The compact system that does it all
The Quad Artera Solus Play has everything you need, in a stylish, one-box system. With DTS Play-Fi built-in, you get seamless music streaming and multi-room potential. The built-in CD player is ideal for your cherished disc collection. The DAC (Digital to Analogue Convertor) provides digital connectivity for a host of sources, via USB, optical and coaxial. There are analogue inputs for older sources and outputs, including XLR balanced, too. Direct streaming from your smartphone or other device is also possible, thanks to the Bluetooth link. There’s also a top quality headphone output. Everything you need in a system is right here.
DTS Play-Fi for effortless music streaming
DTS Play-Fi is a premium, wireless control system that brings everything under one 'roof'. Download the free app from the Apple Store (iOS), Google Play (Android), Kindle Fire or for your Windows PC and get started on streaming all your favourite music. You not only get access to Internet radio but also popular music apps such as Spotify, Tidal, Deezer, Amazon Music and Napster. It’s all here, for near limitless music.
Make sense of multi-room
As well as bringing all your streaming sources together, Play-Fi offers the potential for full multi-room music. Simply add other Play-Fi compatible sources and you'll quickly be able to build up a comprehensive music system around your home - all under the control of a single app.
CD player built-in
With a CD player built-in, you don’t have to worry about ripping and storing your existing CD collection. The slot-loaded transport with digital buffer, offers high quality and reliable disc playback. Connected to the built-in ESS ES9018 Sabre32 Reference DAC, you get exceptionally detailed and dynamic sound from your CDs, helping them sound the best they can be.
Playback your Hi-Res music files
The built-in Sabre32 Reference DAC also means that the Artera Solus Play effortlessly handles your hi-res music files, too. Use the USB digital input and the Artera Solus Play decodes right up to studio quality 32-bit/384kHz and DSD256. With the optical and coaxial inputs, the hi-res music capacity is a still impressive 24-bit/192kHz – the usual standard for most hi-res music files.
Quad quality sound
With decades of top quality audio experience, the Quad Artera Solus Play sounds the thoroughbred it is. With a high quality toroidal transformer and high output capacitors at its heart, the Artera Solus Play delivers an impressive 75 watts per channel (at 8 ohms). The also incorporates audiophile features, such as balanced design, short signal paths, independent, low-noise power supplies and high quality components used in critical areas. This attention to detail gives the Quad exceptional detail and realism that’s hard to find in all-in-one systems.
Helping you make the most of your hi-res and digital components, the Artera Play features an array of digital socketry. Choose between USB, two coaxial and two optical for your inputs – ideal for your computer, TV, Blu-ray/DVD/CD player, network streamer and many other devices with a digital output.
Bluetooth for direct, wireless connection
For direct wireless streaming, the Quad system also comes with built-in Bluetooth. Compatible with aptX, the Artera Solus Play offers the potential for high quality Bluetooth streaming. Simply pair with your smartphone, tablet or other device and stream your stored music and favourite music services, such as Spotify, Deezer and Apple Music – without needing a wi-fi signal.
Connect analogue sources
The Artera Solus Play hasn’t forgotten about your analogue sources. Twin RCA inputs are perfect for plugging in sources such as a tuner, cassette player or any other source with an analogue output. With its pre-amp outputs, you can also connect a more powerful, larger power amp, should you choose. Better still, XLR balanced outputs are including, letting you connect a pro-quality power amp and maintain a balanced signal path.
Stylish good looks
Despite all this connectivity and power, the Artera Solus Play is as compact as they come. With a footprint that’s little bigger than a foot square, this is the perfect system for a desktop, bedside or anywhere else where space is tight. With its textured aluminium front panel, inlaid glass top and circular OLED display, the system looks every bit as good as it sounds, too.
Bring it all together, in style, with the Quad Artera Solus Play.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Jax1447 from A solid piece of technology. I took advice from the staff at the Sheffield shop. So glad I did, I knew the Quad name but this is the first time I owned . I can't explain the technicalities but my ears love it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Martin21 from Superb service and advice I purchased my quad and turntable from Richer Sounds after a few visits and discussions. No pushy sales talk and great advice to meet my requirements. Sebastian had a great approach to customers and would definitely return to buy again. Thanks guys over the moon with my purchases.

Rated 4 out of 5 by STR_MSJ from Excellent, if you can do without gapless streaming A very sturdy and striking one box Hi-Fi, that does just about anything you could possibly want.....oh except stream gapless audio using DTS Play-Fi or BubbleUPnP. This is true even if you are using 3rd party apps like Amazon Music, which happily sends gapless music to your phone. So, if you plan to immerse yourself in an album where tracks merge together, prepare yourself for 7-8 second slices of mood killing silence between each and every one. Maybe they should stick in some adverts? For music on my NAS/PC, I can use my old Squeezebox Duet and phone app as a digital transport/ controller. But it is a real shame that such a cheap retrograde fudge is needed to make a flagship product like this fit for purpose. The problem is not specific to this device, which is lovely in other respects, and if it isn’t likely to be an issue for you then great, it is a fantastic product which I am happy to recommend. Hence the 4 stars. But why on earth have so many high end Hi-Fi manufacturers been unable to resolve such a basic issue with streaming?
