Built to the highest standards Featuring four-layer construction, the SL-1200GME is built to resist vibration like virtually no other turntable. Added to the regular three-layer chassis is a 10mm thick top panel, crafted from solid aluminium. This provides superior damping for a more dynamic sound. Newly developed feet incorporate a zinc insulator using αGEL™. These provide exceptional shock absorption, further helping to banish vibrations from reaching the tonearm.
The heart of perfection At the heart of the SL-1200G Master Edition is a direct-drive motor that’s been developed to perfection. The coreless motor eliminates cogging for smooth rotation. The twin-rotor construction enables high torque for fast starts while also reducing bearing load and minute vibrations that can affect the sound. The coil mounting base uses the same reinforcement pattern as the Reference Class SL-1000R/SP-10R for enhanced rigidity.
Upgraded ΔΣ-Drive (Delta Sigma Drive) New to the SL-1200G but tried and tested in the SL-1300G and SL-1200GR2, the SL-1200G Master Edition benefits from Technics’ recently developed the ΔΣ-Drive (Delta Sigma Drive) motor control system. This applies digital processing to minimise motor vibrations to near-immeasurable levels.
Enhanced power supply Featuring a Multi-stage, Silent Power Supply, derived from the SL-1000R model, this turntable has a very low noise floor and exceptional signal-to-noise ratio. The combination of a low-noise, high-speed power supply working at over 100kHz and a noise cancelling circuit means you hear less background noise and more of the finer musical details that could otherwise be lost.
Balanced platter for incredible rotational stability Built to exacting standards, the platter uses a three-layer construction for the best balance of mass, rigidity and damping. The core of the platter is cast from aluminium for high levels of rigidity. An added layer of brass adds mass for improved rotational stability and perfect pitch. The platter also has a deadening rubber layer, helping to eliminate any ‘ringing’ distortion. Each platter is individually balanced for the smoothest running.
High spec magnesium tonearm The SL-1200GME continues with using a premium quality, magnesium tonearm (the standard models feature an aluminium one). Lightweight magnesium offers a high damping effect, quelling distortion. It’s also extremely rigid, helping the tonearm offer the most precise and detailed sound. High precision bearings and Technics’ gimbal suspension provide the smoothest tracking.
Master Edition design Made for the collector as much as the music lover, the SL-1200G Master Edition has a unique aesthetic. The tonearm is gold-coloured, with gold-printed Technics logo on the headshell. The plinth has a gold-painted embossed logo and a serial number plate with the edition number. As a final flourish, the dust cover also has a gold-coloured Technics logo.
