The 1200mm wide top shelf holds larger TVs - right up to a 65 inch (on pedestal stand - 50 inch screen on feet). Does what's needed
A couple of small issues: -
1) rating of top shelf is printed on the glass near the front
2) lower shelves don't have a good weight rating, so can't put a heavy amp on them

Excellent TV
This TV was so easy to set up, from the Freeview to the Freesat. Once I put my WiFi code in it was on the net within 20 secs, and prompted for a software upgrade, and did it all quickly. APPS work very well.
The sound from the TV's own loudspeakers is excellent.
I sit 8 - 9ft away from the set and the picture quality is superb, the HD looks like 3D without even wearing any glasses.
