Tracing its family tree right back to 1965, the Wharfedale Linton has a rich heritage. Hugely popular in the late ‘60s, ‘70s and 80s, Linton speakers were highly regarded for their sound, style and value. Fast forward to the ‘20s (the 2020s) and little has changed. The latest Linton speakers have already wowed the reviewers and still deliver in all the ways their ancestors did.
Sound quality brought bang up-to-date
The classic style remains put the sound quality has come on by leaps and bounds since the first Linton speakers. At the time of the first Lintons, woven Kevlar would be an exotic material for the likes of NASA only. With the current Linton, though, the material is put to good use in the bass and mid-range drive units. Combined with the soft dome tweeter, it gives the Linton speakers an expansive sound with powerful bass and detailed treble.
Easy to match
The Wharfedale Linton speakers are highly efficient, making them easy to drive. The 90dB sensitivity means that even amps with around 20 watts or more can power the Linton speakers to decent levels.
Taller and wider than contemporary standmount speakers, the Lintons have a unique presence. That ‘big box’ style is successfully offset by the real wood finishes and dark grille (leave this on for the recommended sound balance), making them less intrusive in your room than you might expect. That bigger, boxier design also means deep, effortless bass.
Complete with matching stands that double as record storage
For the best sound and enhanced style, the Lintons also come with matching stands. These give the speakers solid and stable support, helping to focus the sound. They also feature a shelf that’s ideally sized for record storage.
Choice of luxury finishes
Available in a choice of walnut or mahogany, real wood veneers, the Lintons blend beautifully with a wide range of decors. The supplied speaker stands are also finished to match, giving a harmonious style.
Sit back and enjoy the sound, with the Wharfedale Linton speakers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by zundel from Stunning speakers, deep and rich sound Very happy with these; I was dithering between bookshelf style speakers and floorstanders, not liking the looks of the latter and not being impressed with the lack of depth of sound in the former. The Linton's are a perfect combination - superb bass and not too aggressive tweeters, and just amazing looks...

Rated 5 out of 5 by M_o_r_o from Liquid gold There is much to appreciate in these classy stand mounters. Firstly the build and finish of the walnut veneer cabinets is first rate. Binding posts are what you would expect from a premium product too. Only disappointment is the bass ports have not received the same premium finish - function over form. But seeing as they are round the back, this detail I can accept at the price point. The stands are good quality and certainly worth the investment. While there is space for records below, it can be a little bit of a squeeze if, like me, you use higher grade wallets. Hardly a deal breaker. Sound quality is warm and relaxed, but not overly so. Up to now, I have been used to B&W and KEF, which are much more forward, direct and precise. After a few weeks of listening I would say I do rate the Lintons and how they create an atmosphere that really makes you want to rediscover all your music. It is also worth highlighting the accurate full range sounds stage - benefitting from a slight toe in. Highs, mids and lows are all present, accurate and defined. Having listened to many speakers before making this purchase (Kef, focal, B&W, Dali), these are by far the most complete package at the price. They also look classy, if that’s important to you. I have them hooked up to an Arcam Delta 90 and project RPM5 carbon. Don’t delay, get them auditioned in your home to fully appreciate the quality, audio performance and value. Mine are keepers!

Rated 5 out of 5 by peter_e from Lovely speakers with great value for the price The Wharfedale Linton speakers are solidly made, very well finished, and have accurate balanced sound with ample bass. No subwoofer is needed. Tone is neutral and not fatiguing. They reveal much detail in the music - more even than reference headphones, and the stereo sound-stage is good. They are great for all types of music, with plenty of life for funk and soul, and wonderful detail for classical and baroque music. The smart finish looks decent in a lounge, with the stands making them just the right height for seated listeners. They inspire confidence in every way, including their reliability.
