Details such as placing the power transformer close to the power amp circuit, for low signal loss, helps the AS201 produce a powerful and dynamic sound. If you've got a larger than average room to fill, or difficult speakers to drive, the AS201 should be your main contender.
Yamaha's 'Natural Sound'
Based on Yamaha's concept of 'Natural Sound', the AS201 has been designed from the outset to sound evenly balanced and realistic. Only with painstaking attention to detail, such as connecting the signal and power grounds at one point to eliminate mutual interference, is this possible. Its higher signal-to-noise ratio means you hear more of the music and less distortion. For an even more detailed, true-to-life sound, the Pure Direct switch bypasses the tone and balance controls.
Plenty of features

The AS201 comes with a built-in MM phono stage, allowing easy connection of a turntable, plus four other RCA inputs plus an audio output. A step-up in sound
Built for sound above all else, the Project T1 features levels of engineering excellence that you might not expect at this price. With a specification that includes a CNC machined plinth with isolation feet, a glass platter, one-piece tonearm and a quality Ortofon cartridge, the T1 is made to class-leading standards.
Engineered for sound
Unlike many other turntables around this price, the Pro-Ject T1 has all the elements of a proper hi-fi turntable - just at a lower price. Rather than plastic, the CNC machined plinth is made from MDF. This gives lower resonance for reduced distortion. Mounted to the plinth is a steel/brass bearing that’s the same as the award-winning Essential III and, combined with the new heavy glass platter, provides smooth and stable running for perfect pitch.
Single piece aluminium tonearm
Continuing its hi-fi credentials, the Pro-Ject T1 is supplied with a good quality tonearm. Made from a single piece of aluminium, it's both light and rigid. The more rigid the more precisely it tracks, making listening to your records a more involving experience. For ease of use the tracking forces are preset and ready to go.
Ortofon OM5E cartridge supplied
Part of the standard package includes a pre-fitted Ortofon OM5E cartridge. Highly regarded, this quality budget cartridge gives a smooth, detailed sound that’s at home with all types of music. As part of the Optimum Match (OM) range, the stylus is upgradable to 10, 20, 30 and 40 models, giving plenty of scope for future upgrading.
Choice of finishes
The simple, elegant styling gives the T1 a sleek appearance. Available in black, white or walnut, there’s a colour to suit you. All models come with a removable dust lid.

Large enough to fill a small to medium-sized room with rich, powerful sound but so large that they dominate it, the Spektor 2 speakers are the ideal stereo speakers for many rooms. Their larger size also means they suit a wider range of music than the smaller Spektor 1 model.
