Top quality, slot-load mechanism
Using the slot-load mechanism from the highly acclaimed 8300CD, makes this player faster to load and cleaner in style. Doing without the traditional loading tray also reduces the chance of resonance, potentially improving sound quality still further. Using a read-ahead digital buffer, it’s also more tolerant of imperfect discs that might be scratched or dirty, letting you play your most loved discs that other players won’t.

Excellent and friendly staff, the sound and quality of theAudiolab 6000cdt is fantastic.
This is paired with an Audiolab 6000a amplifier and Dali Oberion 5 speakers also purchased from Richer Sounds. Altogether a fantastic system. And great customer service and friendly staff.

Great sound CD Transport
This CD player has a digital feed to the DAC in the Audiolab 6000 amp. The sound quality of the combination is excellent. The two units match well, although that does mean that the CD player is mostly empty.
For the two units to work correctly together they need both a digital signal feed and a separate lead to provide some sort of signalling between the units. It would be really helpful for Audiolab to have provided decent instructions. Both amp and CD are fitted with optical Toslink and phono digital connectors. Is one of these preferred? I don’t know, so do I buy both and do my own comparison? The other link is described unhelpfully only as 3.5mm. Locally I can find stereo 3.5 cables, but is this the correct lead? Both units have input and output. Do I need two leads? After buying one, I read online users doubting whether stereo leads are safe to use so I found a mono lead online and waited for it to arrive. Given that the CD player has to be used together with its amp, including the correct short 3.5mm lead would have been a good idea. Failing that, at least make the very modest effort to say which lead is required. A single mono 3.5mm plug lead seems to be sufficient.
Poor information is a wider failure with Audiolab. I considered the version of the amp that includes a streamer. Having been bitten before by streamers that had abysmal app interfaces, I tried to check out what this essential part of the system looked like and how it functioned. No effort from Audiolab on their website and plenty of grumbling on the review sites, so I passed on the option. Maybe it’s great, but they need to communicate.

Brilliant CD Transport
Two weeks ago I popped into the Norwich store To upgrade my hi-fi system
I chose the audio lab amplifier and CD transport which is a great combination Plus Dali speakers.
I was greatly Impressed with the CD transport and functionality and the sound quality was impressive.
Roger and Tony did a Fantastic job and always get great service at Richersounds in Norwich.

Superb transport - highly recommended
Bought to compliment a system which already has a Cambridge Audio CXC transport, ostensibly as a backup whilst the Cambridge was in for repair. You think a transport just outputs digital data and has no effect on the sound? - you could not be more wrong! There is audible difference between the 6000CDT and the CXC. Not better, not worse, just different. The 6000CDT has a slightly more forward and punchy presentation, whereas the CXC gives a little more air and space, but at the expense of sheer dynamics. Would I trade one for the other? No, I'll use both.
Usual exemplary Richer Sounds customer service and delivery. Absolutely first class!

Nicely Future Proofed
Great addition to my Hi-Fi. I’ve wasted time and money with loads of various CD players over the past few years trying to save money, when I add them up I’ve spent far more than the cost of this deck alone.
With that in mind I decided to just cut my losses and buy a piece of kit that would do the job now and far into the future.
This Audiolab deck removes any bottle neck from the source end of the chain, it inspires confidence that I’m getting the best out of my DAC, amp and speakers. I enjoy knowing that I can potentially improve aspects of the sound in the future by upgrading components further along the chain but I have faith that the data coming off the discs is being supplied as good as it possibly can.
I appreciate the stunning build quality as well, it’s so solid, and it looks better in person than it does in any photos online. The OLED display is so crisp and looks quite special.
My one criticism is that if you pause a track for too long, when you press play it just starts the disc again. Not the end of the world but just something I’ve noticed.

Phenomenal value!
This CD transport system is extraordinary - screaming quality, but with the most wonderful sound. Compared to my old CD player, my CDs sound as if they have been replaced or upgraded in some way. I can hear notes that I did not know were there. It helps that it goes perfectly with the Audiolab 6000 amplifier. I can't recommend this CDT highly enough - and for the price - it's a steal!
