FAQs

What does 8K and 4K mean?

A higher resolution means that there are more pixels inside the screen. A TV with an 8K resolution is currently the best you can get, because it has 33 million pixels. With four times more pixels than a 4K TV (and eight times greater than Full HD), 8K TVs display a sharper picture with impressive detail, bringing about the most immersive viewing experience possible. A TV with a 4K resolution is the second best you can get, with 8 million pixels inside the screen (four times more than traditional Full HD TVs). More pixels mean improved detail and sharper images.

What is the difference between QLED and OLED TVs?

Most modern TVs use LED displays (light emitting diodes) to act as a source of light behind the screen and use an LCD (liquid crystal display) to control where light is shown on your TV. Premium TVs use two differing technologies to enhance your viewing experience: QLED and OLED.

Samsung's QLED and OLED TVs offer sensational picture quality and improved viewing experiences compared to standard LED TVs. Both TV display technologies use Quantum Dots, which are unique in their ability to emit precise coloured light at high levels of brightness. Whilst QLED TVs fully harness the superior brightness of Quantum Dots to display the widest, most diverse range of true-to-life colours (guaranteed on your screen for an entire decade*); OLED TVs, by virtue of controlling each individual, self-illuminating pixel, display the deepest blacks.

What size TV should I get?

TVs come in various sizes, but we recommend selecting the largest size for a truly immersive viewing experience. All TVs have a recommended distance and angle that you will want to consider when setting it up in your home. The best and most immersive viewing experience is when 40 degrees of your field of view is taken up by the screen. This field of view distance can be calculated by just knowing the size of your TV. To get this suitable distance, multiply the screen size by 1.2. So for a 75 inch TV, that means sitting 90 inches, or 2.3 metres away. The higher the resolution of your TV, the closer you can sit to your TV without it showing pixels. If you have the space for a 75 inch screen on your wall, but no such depth in your room, you may want to consider 4K or 8K. For 4K, simply multiply the screen size by 0.6. So, for a 75 inch 4K TV, you can sit 45 inches, or 1.5m metres away.
