"The most well-connected and exciting-sounding package out there" What Hi-Fi Sound & Vision Award Winner 2016

Quality engineering for a precise sound
At the heart of the CXA60 amp is a super-efficient, fully symmetrical Class A/B amplifier. This ensures a precise, even sound with excellent separation between the right and left channels. Powering the amp is a large toroidal transformer giving the CXA60 its powerful, dynamic sound and a healthy 60W per channel power, enough to drive most speakers to high levels in all but the very largest rooms.

Built-in DAC
The Cambridge CXA60 has been designed to work just as well with digital sources as analogue ones. So Cambridge has fitted a high-quality DAC (Digital to Analogue Convertor) inside the amp. Usually found in its dedicated DacMagic range, the Wolfson WM8740 DAC offers high-quality sound that could actually improve your existing digital sources. With two optical digital inputs and one coaxial one, up to three digital sources can be connected, such as games console, TV and a CD transport such as the matching Cambridge CXC.

Optional Bluetooth
Add the optional Cambridge BT100 Bluetooth dongle as a cost option and you'll get Bluetooth connectivity with your smartphone, tablet or other compatible device. Not only will the music from your linked device sound superb through the unit's sophisticated DAC technology, but it's also compatible with the higher grade Bluetooth aptX - designed to give the highest audio quality and the closest yet to a conventional wired connection.

Analogue connectivity
Just because it has class-leading digital connectivity doesn't mean that Cambridge has forgotten about analogue connectivity. The Cambridge CXA60 has four line level inputs, easily enough for the vast majority of systems. There's a 3.5mm front-mounted input, perfect for connecting an MP3 player or smartphone for quick and convenient playback. Other handy connections include an RCA subwoofer output, headphone socket and connections for two pairs of speakers.

Sleek style
The CXA60 is part of the totally redesigned CX-Series. The distinctive tear-drop profile gives the CXA60 a contemporary look and makes it the ideal partner for the matching CD transport and network player. Yet it's far more than just a good-looking case; it helps the sound quality, too. With rigid, metal construction and low-resonance design, the casing helps shield the amp from both mechanical and electrical interference, helping to improve clarity and reduce background noise.

For an amplifier that treats all your music sources, whether digital or analogue, with the same high regard, the Cambridge CXA60 is a talented all-rounder.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent amplifier My old amplifier had died and i went to Richer Sounds for advice and looking for a replacement. I described the audio setup that i had and the helpful gentlemen demonstrated several amps and we settled on this one with pre amp for my Garrard 301 / SME turntable as well as a blue tooth dongle to allow me to take input from my I pad / Digital Radio. Absolutely delighted with the result and am now listening to more music than for many months. Copes beautifully with Classical, jazz, big band, folk and rock from all types of input. Vinal, CD, FM radio, Digital Radio and even some (very) old cassettes. Thoroughly recommend Oxford Richer Sounds and this amp.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Always excellent service Bought after a staff recommendation at the Mcr Deansgate branch having earlier on tried to salvage my old Cambridge amp. Sounds fantastic, along with new speakers & trusty old 1210 & Cambridge CD player. Would recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Happy My new CXA60 compliments my TDL RTL4's very nicely. I will be going back for the CXC to replace my aging CD player.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great upgrade After using an aged Kenwood amplifier I was looking for a significant improvement in reproduction. I had narrowed down the options prior to visiting the Bournemouth branch but was advised that the Cambridge CXA60 was the optimum within the {extended} budget. Also received advice on the best way of connecting components using their own DACs rather than the amps DAC, however was not advised that a separate pre-amp was required for my record deck. This entailed a revisit to the shop. Performance of the amplifier is a considerable improvement on the old one and certainly the Mission speakers now sound how they should! Have run out of analogue inputs but there are spare digital ones. Amp gets warmer than expected on extended use and remote has limited controls for the amp - more if you buy other Cambridge products.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amplifier upgrade Our purchase of a new television caused the need to replace the audio amplifier to handle the digital output of the new television. The CAX60 frm Richer Sounds has proved to be a perfect addition.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Great New HI FI Combination I am delighted with my Cambridge Audio CXA60 which I purchased with their CXC CD transport and a pair of Monitor Audio BRONZE 5 floor speakers. I spent a very interesting morning at Richer Sounds in Gidea Park, Romford where, with thanks to Ian, the manager at this branch, I played extracts from six CDs, chosen to represent a good cross section of the music I play on a regular basis, on this combination, having first done so on the Marantz DPM6006 UK EDITION coupled with their CD6006 UK EDITION CD player - the Cambridge Audio combination was a clear winner. I have now played a record on the Teac TN100 USB turntable, which I purchased at the same time and which Ian pointed out is very inferior to my other three purchases but, as I only play records very infrequently, my plan was to spend more on an amplifier, CD player and speakers and less on a turntable. That said, this also sounds great as does my old Denon DAB digital receiver and Sony TV, whether playing live or via a recording through my Humax so it really is all systems go! The only disappointment I have is that if I had made my purchases a day later I would not have had to buy the Cambridge Audio dongle to qualify for the £100 saving on my speakers and if I had left it for a couple of weeks (which I could have done as my old system was still working) I would have saved £80 on the amplifier. However, my disappointment is tempered by having additional options for playing music from different sources through the dongle, having enabled my Echo Dot and my blue tooth enabled iPod, along with my wife's iPad to play through the outstanding CXA60.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very capable amp I bought this amp as an upgrade from a rival mini system; I haven't been disappointed: it takes everything I have thrown at it thus far - rock, blues, pop, classical, folk - and handles them all with ease, giving a lovely warm, full, sound. And that's on both CD and vinyl. My only criticisms are a) that, as others have noted, the User Manual (even the downloaded one) is poor and CA should - and could - do much, much better and b) there is no USB input. Other than that it would have got 5 stars.
