Narrower than most other soundbars, the Panasonic SCHTB258 fits where other soundbars don’t. If you’ve got a small TV or need something that fits between the TV’s feet, this is the ideal solution. Big improvement upon the TVs own sound.
Firstly we can't just call this a soundbar review, it's a soundbar plus subwoofer combo. Unfortunately the soundbar does need the subwoofer to sound good so doesn't take up as little space as some soundbars. Having said that, the sound of both together is good. Huge improvement on tv's own sound. I like this a lot. It does take some playing with settings and volumes to get it to sound ideal, subwoofer can be overpowering, it's not the fault of the equipment but the way tv adverts and trailers are produced, very bass boomy for impact, which is annoying when the adverts thump more than most of the tv you're watching. Subwoofer does have a separate volume control though so if you take its level right down you can get a reasonably balanced sound. I'd definitely recommend it for greatly improving the sound of a tv. Got it half price with a Panasonic tv so absolutely recommended to buy this way. If paired and connected via hdmi (arc return channel) volume and on/off can be controlled from the main tv remote which is a bonus.
The only real grips or negative: Soundbar is very slow to react to the remote control. There's like a huge lag. Holding down the subwoofer volume buttons it will eventually respond, and then continue to respond after you've taken your finger off the button, like to turn the subwoofer level up or down you hold the button for half a second before it does anything, and it's still carrying out the command half a second after you've released the button. Takes some getting used to, but you only really use the soundbar's own remote control a lot during setup to tailor it to how you like it to sound, so I can live with that. The volume control on the tv itself isn't lag free, just one of those things with smart tvs that are heavily software controlled. My old (non-smart) Samsung tv was much quicker to respond to the remote control than my new Panasonic tv, my smart LG tv has a much longer lag/delay, which is really annoying, so compared to that the Panasonic isn't too bad.
Overall I'm very pleased with the purchase of this soundbar / subwoofer combo, it has transformed the tv sound and for that reason that I do recommend it.
*Note there is a mistake in the specs in the advert. The weight of the soundbar & subwoofer isn't 1.6kg, it's a far more substantial 7.6kg (which is nice).

Outstanding Value for Good Quality
Bought to fit in to an awkward front room that has no scope for a multiple speaker system, it just so happened that the unit fit perfectly into the oddly shaped base stand of my TV. The speaker is crisp and clear with fantastic range, the sub level is separately adjustable so I could get the right mix for the room

Great compact design
I’ve had this for a couple of weeks now and can’t fault it. I have a Panasonic Tv that sits quite low on the stand that limits the height of the sound bar I can fit there. This fits perfectly, hides all the wires behind it and together with the Blutooth bass sounds great. The order and delivery service from Richer sounds was exceptional. I ordered in the afternoon and it came the next day.

Nice compact soundbar
I bought this a couple of weeks ago to fit under my Panasonic tv. Fits perfectly as the tv is quite low so I was limited to what would fit. The sound is great and is helped by the Blutooth bass speaker. Everything connected easily and it switched on when I turn on the sky Q and tv. Very happy with my purchase.

Great piece of kit
Brilliant sound from a small footprint. The HDMI - ARC made setting up really easy. There is a separate remote, but it now works with my TV remote. The wireless subwoofer is bassy enough to give depth of sound and no more wires. It may not be the most powerful sound bar and subwoofer but it is certainly adequate to make movies and music enjoyable. As usual, superb service from Richer Sounds.
