Rated 1 out of 5 by from Great picture, problems with software I have had this TV for about 10 weeks now and a problem has arisen with selecting the apps. It is hit and miss and is specific to all apps with the exception of Netflix, prime and YouTube. Basically, when selecting the app, more often than not the app does not open. Eventually it works again (albeit intermittently). I rang RS with the default being to be redirected to Phillips. This is fine, although, I believe their call centre must be abroad somewhere as the quality of the line was awful (on the five occasions I’ve rung thus far). This has made it difficult to hear the other person who has tried to talk me through the problem. In the last 24 hours I’ve performed 4 full resets, and have downloaded 2 different updates sent to me by Phillips which has not solved the problem. It seems bizarre that I’m spending so long trying to fix my own TV. I now have a further email from Phillips with a lengthy list of requirements so that I can share the log files with them. The problem is relatively minor, but I want this resolved as who knows what might be the next software glitch to occur. I’m getting more and more annoyed by the considerable amount of time this is taking to resolve. More faffing with the log files does not instill me with confidence and in all honesty, I’m not sure I have the time to do this given I’m meant to be working. A very despondent unsatisfied customer whose day job in the last 24 hours (and possibly next 24) is that of Phillips TV technician! Outside of this issue, TV has been great, it has its flaws (not the best user interface), however for the money it is an excellent TV. The one star rating is very much based on my feelings right now and the expectation that I spend all this time fixing my own TV! RS, please provide an alternative solution that won’t result in me spending numerous more hours formatting USB sticks and downloading and uploading files. For information Phillips have not been back in touch in the 24 hours since I provided them with the data logs.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Television. Only had it for a couple of weeks now but the picture quality is excellent. The Ambilight feature really does make a huge difference. The only downside is the sound it is a very quiet TV. Recommend having a home cinema system or soundbar to go with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My first 4K TV I bought this a couple of weeks ago and have used it moderately for Netflix TV shows, blurays and YouTube videos. TL;DR: it appears to be a lot of TV for the price, but the budget shows with the user interface. There's plenty of picture adjustment options and the TV is physically quite the pleasant understated design with it's thin dark silver bezels, especially since you can remove the front facing Philips logo with one simple screw. I'm undecided on Ambilight, it is my first TV with the technology, and although I have been impressed with it, most of my viewing has seen the option turned off. The back of the TV is not near any walls which obviously reduces the intensity of the lights, something to consider if you have it at the end of your bed. If there's any glaring aggrevation it's the user interface. I knew at this price and from reviews that it wasn't going to be entirely up-to-date, however I am frustrated buy it's unintuitive layout and sometimes slow working. What's interesting to me is that I've found I much prefer the no-frills frankly old-school user interface of my new £260 Yamaha receiver. Precisely because it doesn't have unclear layouts or iconography, or hit-and-miss responsiveness, and even though it too is unintuitive in its own way, it is a far nicer experience to use if and when I need to. It boils down to my loathing when having to use the TV's menu - granted, I like to tinker - and am hoping I will seldom have to use them once I have it configured how I like. (The same goes for the built-in smart TV features, which I'd anticipated and budgeted in a Wirecutter-recommended Roku to replace entirely.)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent VFM Good picture for the money and Ambilight is a nice feature. Minor issues - if sitting just slightly to the side of the screen instead of directly in front, the picture can look a bit pale and ‘washed out’. Connection sockets at the back are mounted vertically in an inset ( i guess to help with wall clearance ) but this meant there was insufficient room to attach Now TV dongle and had to buy special angled connector.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great picture and easy to set up. I bought this a week ago to replace a trusty old bush 40in. I can’t believe the difference in picture and sound quality. The ambilight feature is fabulous too.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Better than a Christmas Tree!!! Bought my Philips TV with Ambilight a few week ago and its been a success with the much so that my 15 year old daughter said the Ambilight was better than a Christmas Tree. Its also easy to use, not that she's bothered about that!
