"From sound, to fit, the EX650s are everything a pair of in-ears should be." What Hi-Fi Sound & Vision magazine, Product of the Year, 2014 Awards.

Brass body for style and sound

With solid brass housings, the Sony MDREX650 earphones look quite unlike rival designs. The solid construction also gives audio advantages, with the density of brass suppressing unwanted vibration, for a clean, distortion-free sound. Brass is also used for the oversized inner ducts, which have been designed to improve treble clarity. For an optimised bass performance, the MDR-EX650 headphones use powerful 12mm neodymium drivers and sculptured air vents for bass accuracy and precision.

Comfortable fit
With an angled profile and small diameter plug, the Sonys fit comfortably and securely. Hybrid silicone buds use hard silicone on the outside for durability and softer silicone on the inside for comfort, and as they're supplied with four different sizes of bud, it's easy to find a comfortable fit.

Built-in mic for smartphone use
With an inline remote and mic, these earphones are the perfect partner for your smartphone. Weighing just 9g and supplied with a carry case, they're also ideal for a life on the go. Finally, the knot-free cord means your headphones are ready to go without having to be constantly untangled!

Beautifully designed, great sounding and comfortable - it's hard to fault the Sony MDREX650s!

Headphone sensitivity is measured in dB. The lower the figure, the more powerful the driving amplifier needs to be. Headphones for use on portables need to be of higher sensitivity than home hi-fi ones.
Impedance is measured in ohms and should be matched carefully to the driving amplifier for the best sound quality and reliability.
Frequency Response
Frequency response is measured in Hz and gives an indication of how low and how high the headphones will go.

SONY MDREX650 is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 75.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect headphones for it's price! I bought them for 39.95 on sale. The headphones are amazing. MDR-EX650 sounds expensive, looks expensive and feels expensive. Most likely they are best at the price!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Robust with decent sound quality. Sound quality good without being great. Very sturdy. My last 2 pairs of sennheiser earphones have just stopped working in one ear so hopefully these will last. Decent pouch should help. Quite obtrusive in ear. Rubbing sound when walking.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Reliable and good quality I bought these hoping for good quality and ease of use with an android phone. Quality is fine and fairly good on the volume front compared to previous earphones. Less impressed with the play store Sony app which is supposed to extend the range of remote control features, but just seems to confuse my Galaxy Note phone. Overall a good buy and I am happy with the product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tasty I'm no audiophile, but the sound is significantly better than that of my last two pairs of ear bungs - both Ultimate Ears Metro-Fi, one 2005, the other 2011. These Sonys have much stronger bass, more clarity, and the overall feel is immersive rather than just "sound in your ears". Passive noise blocking is excellent - both the M and L tips fitted snugly; I went for L because they seemed less likely to fall out. According to people on the other end of the phone, the microphone is very good. Only complaint is the cables are rather heavy and floppy and easily tangled. Generous length though, and they feel sturdy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Comfortable, pleasant, if warm, sounding in ear 'phones I don't think I've had in-ear headphones that are as comfortable as these. They sound detailed, with a little (but not overbearing) bias towards bass frequencies. They provide a relaxed experience, so some may find them lacking 'punch', but I find long listening sessions a pleasure. Passive noise reduction is really good - I've stopped taking my Bose QCs on flights as a result. The cable is strong, but can be a knot magnet, so store carefully after use! As always, service in Norwich RS was phenomenal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fabulous for the money I was a little wary buying these and not being able to try them first but I wasn't disappointed. I bought them to replace some Beats tour 2 headphones which were rubbish compared to these. Sound quality is great, bass is great, comfortable to wear, Plenty loud enough and blocks out sound really well. Must also say the staff are so knowledgeable in Richer Sounds and really helpful in our local store. Cannot recommend them highly enough.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfy and good value for money These aren't cheap. They are good value for money but they are still an investment. The sound quality is great. wire is a bit annoying but if you use the provided 'tidier' it works fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lived up to reviews It's always a risk buying an audio product without being able to listen first, but at £40 these in-ear headphones were well worth it. I normally wear closed-over-ear phones, but wanted a light-weight portable alternative. Believe the reviews - they sound great and are hard to beat at the price.
