With its top quality platter and tone-arm, the Pro-Ject Debut Carbon Esprit SB gives a taste of the high-end, without the price!

Eye-catching acrylic platter

Swapping the pressed steel platter of the standard Debut model for an acrylic one makes a big difference. These are usually only standard on turntables costing twice as much or more and the resulting improvement in sound quality is marked with improved timing, cohesion of sound and superior detail.

Carbon fibre tone-arm
Another feature with the Debut Carbon Esprit SB is the addition of a carbon fibre tone-arm tube. Usually found on more expensive turntables, this provides significant benefits to the sound quality. Being stiffer than steel, the tone arm is more rigid, which helps convey the music more accurately. In short, the music sounds tighter, punchier and more detailed.

Isolated motor
Improved motor dampening using Sorbothane gives better isolation. In terms of sound quality, isolating the motor means less background noise and a more dynamic and revealing sound. The motor itself is decoupled, synchronous design that, together with a precise belt drive system gives a smooth, high torque drive.

Attention to detail
The rigid plinth with anti-vibration feet helps in providing a taut sound. Using a brass bearing housing and stainless steel axle, the platter hub is superbly engineered and built to close tolerances for longevity. And there's a good quality Ortofon cartridge included with the turntable, so it's ready to go straight out of the box.

Minimalist good looks
With its glossy plinth, the Debut Carbon Esprit SB looks smart without being flashy. Combined with its high quality engineering, it really does give the impression that it's from the class above.

Yet again, for quality vinyl replay, pure and simple, there's nothing to beat the Debut Carbon Esprit SB at this price.

Also available in gloss red or white finishes, available to special order in store or by calling our telesales team.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nicely finished with great sound quality This turntable is nicely finished and seems to have good build quality. I am very pleased with the sound reproduction from its combination with the Ortofon cartridge. I particularly like the ability to play 78 rpm records with just the addition of the stylus that is available for this purpose. The alternative belt is provided.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superb turntable I auditioned a number of turntables before deciding on this one. I chose it because it had some features normally found on much more expensive turntables. The speedbox is an absolute gem as I can switch from 33rpm to 45rpm with a press of a button rather than removing the platter and shifting the belt. The carbon fibre arm and Ortofon red 2M cartridge works very well indeed. Setup was reasonably straightforward and the tweakability it allows adds to the enjoyment when listening to vinyl. I treasure listening to all my records that I kept for over 30 years and I relish that sound I missed so much.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great turntable! After weeks and weeks of careful research I decided to purchase this turntable. The sound quality is immense and it is very well built. I was a little concerned about setting it up myself but there are so many useful videos online that it was really simple. I definitely recommend this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great deck Simon at the London Bridge shop arranged me a proper demo where I could compare decks, cabling, pre amp etc.. Picked It up over the Debut Carbon DC and not regretting it. It has given a second life to my records. Some of those sound more detailed than their digital FLAC 44khz/16bits versions. Thanks again for the welcoming at the London Bridge shop guys.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The extra price over the very good Essential decks is 100% justified! Having had some issues with the Essential III, I was somewhat skeptical - however, the difference between the 2 players is chalk and cheese. Firstly, the over all build - the Debut Esprit Sb is so clearly manufactured to a higher standard. The moment you pull it from the packaging it feels more substantial. Next the tonearm - there is a good reason that the mighty Linn LP12s now ship with a Pro-ject carbon arm, they are truly wonderful when compared to the great arms from the 80s and 90s. You are getting high-end technology at mid-range prices. Compared to old Rega and Linn arms at relative prices there is no competition to today's offerings - I've owned MANY arms, this 8.6 carbon is BETTER than a Linn Akito. If you can get past the anti-skate being weighted rather than dialed in (which you should, it's good enough for ultra pricy arms) you won't look back. It lacks VTA, but the cart was very well aligned. Sound? Rich, warm, well timed and room-filling. Excellent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing! My first serious foray back to vinyl since the 90s. I've bought a few all-in-ones in the last year but decided to make the jump to get a proper set up again. The turntable itself looks stunning, the sound is amazing. This is sexy as anything!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellant turntable and well worth the extra money Purchased this to upgrade from a Sony turntable I purchased from RS last year. That was my first venture into vinyl for may years and having caught the bug wanted something a bit better to go with a new Cambridge Audio amp I'd also purchased. At first I did wonder if the extra was worth it but I have to say it certainly is and the sound is awesome. The set-up may seem a bit fiddly if you are not used to doing this (and most us probably aren't) but a quick search on YouTube showed it wasn't as daunting as the manual makes out.
