There are plenty of retro turntables on the market, but few of them can match the pedigree of the Audio Technica AT-LPW40WN – let alone its sound quality. By combining a traditional, walnut finish with the highest quality engineering – including a carbon fibre tonearm – this turntable gives you vintage style without the compromised sound.
Anti-resonance base for solid sound
Getting the best sound from your records relies on isolating the deck from vibrations. Rather than plastic, the AT-LPW40WN uses anti-resonant MDF (Medium Density Fibreboard). This gives both rigidity and vibration absorption, for the lowest levels of distortion. Isolation feet and a rubber mat provide further protection from harmful vibrations.
Fully adjustable, carbon fibre tonearm
Constructed from carbon fibre, the matte-finish tonearm doesn’t just look the part, it sounds it, too. Carbon fibre makes the tonearm extremely rigid, meaning it helps the cartridge to track as accurately as possible and resists distortion. The tonearm comes with a detachable headshell, adjustable tracking force and anti-skating settings – letting you easily adjust the tonearm to suit a huge range of potential cartridge upgrades. Another bonus with this high quality turntable is the supplied cartridge – the class-leading AT-VM95E. Featuring an elliptical stylus, the Audio Technica AT-VM95E is a great upgrade over most standard cartridges. Compared to more basic conical cartridges, the elliptical stylus on the VM95E literally gets deeper into the groove – pulling out more music.
Connect to almost any hi-fi – with built-in phono pre-amp
With a phono pre-amp built-in, the AT-LPW40WN connects to almost any hi-fi or speaker system. The phono pre-amp boosts the signal to line level, meaning you can connect it to any device with an AUX input. If you’d rather use your amp’s phono pre-amp, then simply switch off the turntable’s one.

Great value at this price point
A great turntable at this price point, delivering a lovely warm sound when matched with Marantz amp and Wharfedale speakers.
The “wood” plinth is perfect for those who don’t want the usual black finish. Quality stylus. Manual arm operation (not auto return). Easy to set-up, albeit the Audio Technica set-up video on YouTube helps when balancing and calibrating the arm.
Highly recommended.

Stylish and great quality
Bought this from the Prestwich branch. Ordered speakers too and can’t wait to hear the setup. The turntable is perfect for the look of the room and really minimalist which I like. Service and knowledge in store was excellent from guys who obviously have a passion for all things tech!

Amazing Turntable
This is a first class turntable. Sound quality is superb and it looks stunning. I've coupled it to my Ruark MR1 Mk2 speakers, which I also purchased in store. looks good seems well made expected platter to be a bit heavier took an hour to assemble listened to aftermath the stones bass guitar comes over well possible slight loss of detail then the kick inside Kate bush handled it well still unsure if slight lack of detail maybe it's me (72yrs old) rest of system dali Oberon 3 Cambridge cx61 overall happy
