Audiolab DC Block (Black)
Mains Conditioner
£99
Delivering ‘clean’ power to your amp, the Audiolab DC Blocker reduces transformer noise, letting you hear more of the music and less of the electronics.
Direct Current Blocker – banish the hum
DC (Direct Current) signals within the mains current may be small but can noticeably affect sound quality. As the DC current enters a toroidal power transfer it becomes saturated, reducing the transformer’s efficiency and causing audible vibration. Connecting the DC Blocker reduces the mechanical hum and restores the mechanical efficiency – letting you concentrate on the music and not the background noise.
Mains conditioner and RF filter
As well as DC removal, the DC Block also provides additional mains conditioning and RF filtering. These help reduce background noise further still, as noise from other components on the mains system (such as a fridge or dimmer switch switching on and off) is effectively filtered out.
Improves the entire system
With a quieter mains signal being feed to your amplifier, the whole system benefits. A quieter amp means less distortion relayed to other components, helping reduce distortion and enhance music dynamics.
Easy to connect
No special installation or even additional mains sockets are required to fit the DC Blocker to your system. Simply plug into your amp’s IEC power socket and then connect to the mains socket vacated by the amp’s power cable.
Styled to match your system
With its clean, crisp lines, the DC Block looks every bit as sleek as you’d expect from the Audiolab brand. Available in black or silver, the DC Block perfectly matches Audiolab’s other products and also blends well with components from other brands.
Hear the music you’ve been missing, with the Audiolab DC Blocker.

Much more natural and defined
Recently bought. It’s made a significant difference to sound quality used on my Naim Nait amplifier. Digital inputs
via my Arcam Dac sound much more natural, with “metallic” sounding orchestral pieces gone and
jagged splashy high trebles eliminated. Slightly better soundstage and much easier to distinguish single instruments
In an orchestra. Slightly tighter bass notes too. But the naturalistic sound of sibilances of speech, snare drums
and symbols etc is the real step change. Only issue for the Naim is that I had to swap the standard 13 amp 3 pin mains plug with an smaller kettle plug bought from a diy store, as the Naim mains lead is wired direct into the amp. That took 10 minutes to swap over.

A cost effective upgrade?
The first thing to say is fitting the Audiolab DC block could not be easier, secondly whilst there is no guarantee that it will make a significant sound diference to every system for the price it's worth taking a chance, especially if you have smart meters or a less than uptodate electrical system. I qualify on both accounts and even to my aging ears the sound is now a lot cleaner. By unhooking the DC block its eay to do a back to back comparison, cutting to the quick things were better with the DC block in place, in my opinion a really cost effective upgrade.

Does what it says on the tin!
I'd recently purchased a Rega Brio amplifier (not from Richer Sounds) and noticed that there was a humming from it (I'd replaced a Marantz PM-6006 UK Edition amplifier (not from Richer Sounds), which never hummed). I'd read that I may benefit from a DC Block/Mains Conditioner.
After reading many reviews for this product, I decided to give it a go.
I'll not claim that my system sounds any different/better, but the hum has disappeared, so I'm happy with my purchase. Based on my experience, I'd recommend the product.
I ordered it online on Saturday 19 August (2023) and was expecting delivery on Tuesday 22 August (2023). It turned up on Monday 21 August (2023), so that's another plus point!

Nice small tidy box of tricks!
This product has certainly been helpful. Cleaner sound than what I was experiencing. I had a slight hum coming from the transformer in my integrated amp and this has almost eliminated the problem.
I have also noticed a difference in a cleaner signal from the mains, giving more definition in sound. Well worth a try!

Mains Filter
I purchased this to see if it would eliminate the hum from my Rega Brio that is audible through my speakers. I wasn't really holding out much hope as I had seen mixed reviews.
I was pleasantly surprised to find that it worked and the hum has disappeared at normal listening levels.
Will it work for you, who knows? For £100 though it's well worth the punt.
