Developed from fifty years of experience, the Reference speaker range has been intensively developed in the lab and listening room, ensuring that it doesn’t just measure flawlessly but actually performs in your home, too.
The ultimate top-end precision
Featuring a ‘black ceramic’ tweeter, Canton Reference speakers live up to their name for top-end resolution. Incredibly revealing, the tweeters, aided by advanced crossovers, effortlessly reveal every element of high frequency sound. Although outstandingly detailed, the top-end response is also refined and satisfying for fatigue-free long-term listening.
Adjust the treble response to suit
Adjustable in 1.5 decibel steps, the treble’s response can be seamlessly tuned to your personal taste or have a corrective effect on the room’s acoustics. Especially useful in minimalist ‘bright sounding’ rooms, Canton’s RC technology helps balance the sound in any environment.
Reference Black Ceramic Tungsten woofer technology
Designed exclusively for Canton’s Reference speaker range, the BCT (Black Ceramic Tungsten) woofer units deliver outstanding sound through the mid-range and bass. Low in weight, high in rigidity and with excellent damping properties, the cones simply relay the music, precisely ‘as it is.’ Hear your favourite musicians as though they are ‘live’ playing in the room with you.

Although relatively compact, the Reference 9’s don’t hold back when it comes to powerful bass. The Bass Guide is an integral part of the speaker base, optimising the bass output for a smooth and sustained response. Combined with the long-throw woofer, you get bass depth and control that easily matches or surpasses many compact floorstanding speakers.

With its sweeping curves, the Reference 9 looks (almost) as good as it sounds. The smooth curves don’t just look good, they help the speaker image better from the outside and breakup standing waves inside, giving a wider soundstage and reduced distortion. Available in two luxurious finishes, the 12-layer ‘piano black’ is applied, sanded and elaborately finished to the highest standards. Alternatively, a satin white finish is also available.
