Prevents the spread of fire
Designed to cover the rear of ceiling speakers, this fire hood is required by legislation for many new buildings. Whether legally required or not, we would recommend them as a safety precaution. Using a fire hood helps resist the spread of fire through the various floors of a building, by restoring the ceiling’s fire integrity.
Also reduces acoustic disturbance between floors
In addition to helping reduce the spread of fire, this Firetopper hood also acts as a sound proofer. Especially useful if there’s another property above you, this hood’s multilayer construction dampens the sound from the rear of the speakers, meaning less disturbance for those above.
Suits a wide range of in-ceiling speakers
With its wide opening and snag free installation, the Firetopper Pro II suits a wide range of in-ceiling speakers. It can be used with speaker cones ranging from 2” to 9” diameter, making it widely compatible with most in-ceiling speakers.
Fully complaint and red finish for easy identification
Finished in Fire Red, the Firetopper is clearly identified as a fire safety product to other trades. It’s fully compliant with IEE and Building Regulations for Fire and Acoustic integrity of ceilings - BS476 Parts 21, 23 for acoustic and fire dispersion.
Suitable for use in suspended ceilings
The Firetopper is suitable for use with plasterboard and suspended ceilings. A further benefit of using this fire hood is that it also protects the speaker from any debris above, such as lose plaster that might otherwise damage the speaker.
