Launched in 2011, the original KEF LS50 was a smash-hit from day one. The new KEF LS50 Meta takes all the award-winning ingredients of the original and introduces new technology for sensational sound quality.
Hear the sound, just as it should be, with MAT
Developed in conjunction with Acoustic Metamaterials Group, the LS50 Meta makes use of an exciting new technology called MAT (Metamaterial Absorption Technology). The revolutionary material absorbs 99% of unwanted sound from the rear of the tweeter, for lower distortion and a much purer, more natural sound.
Legendary Uni-Q drive units deliver studio quality sound
KEF’s history includes making some of the most precise-sounding monitor speakers. Used in recording studios around the world, KEF-branded speakers and other brands using KEF drive units are behind so many classic mixes. Now in its 12th generation, the Uni-Q driver array places the revised tweeter within the middle of the woofer, creating a more cohesive sound. The magnesium/ aluminium woofer is light and rigid – making it fast to respond and entirely faithful to the music playing.
Foot-tappingly musical
Although some monitor speakers can sound clinical to listen to, this is not the case with the KEF LS50 Meta. The super-rigid cabinet features a curved compound front baffle. Combined with the tweeter’s ‘tangerine’ wave-guide, this helps spread the sound far out into your room – making listening to these speakers an enveloping experience, wherever you’re sitting in the room.
Punchy, lifelike bass
For such small speakers, the LS50 Metas hit hard. Thanks to Z-Flex surrounds, the woofers move across an extended range, giving deep, powerful bass. More important than just being ‘deep’, the bass is extremely well controlled and lifelike. The computer-aided design of the rear port promotes flow and reduces turbulence – meaning the bass sounds fast and accurate.
A design classic
Just as enduring as the sound, the LS50 Meta’s design has similar long-lasting appeal. The smooth, clean design is striking yet still easy on the eye. Choose between Carbon Black, Mineral White, Titanium Grey or Royal Blue, for the style that best suits you.
Get straight to the heart of the music, with the KEF LS50 Meta.

Surprisingly better than originals
Happily enjoyed a pair of kef LS50 for 3 years until my grandson damaged the driver. Just replaced with LS50 meta. Wow.
Tighter sound. More depth to the bass and even more clarity to the midrange. Didn’t think that much improvement was possible. Streaming Spotify through a Naim Unitiqute.

Sublime Standmount Speakers!
The original LS50 speakers are on the list of What HiFi all-time best speakers.....and these updated Meta versions are better than them. The clarity and separation are fantastic and they really are a joy to listen to. This is the first review I have ever left for something I've bought, anywhere. The fact I've been moved to do so on this occasion indicates how good I think the LS50 Meta speakers are, and how delighted I am with them :-)

Stunning!
I purchased these speakers via the Bournemouth Branch and the quality of the speakers is incredible. What not to love! Thanks to the team in Bournemouth for a great service - but especially to Paul - who has shared his considerable knowledge to guide me in the right direction.

Incredible sound
I’ve had these for a week now and am blown away by their soundstage and ability to fill a good sized room with high ceilings with ease. I had tested a few out in the store (Guildford - huge thanks to Andrew for all his help) but these were a cut above. For the price it was a no brainer.

Easy to do better
I bought these to be used as my second hifi connected to a Music Fidelity M6Si and a Cambrdige Azur 851N.
These are without doubt the worst pair of speakers I ever heard. I am baffled at the hype around them. For 1k it's pretty easy to find something with more life to them than these. These kefs are flat and devoid of any emotional involvement.
I played a variety of music from indi to classical and I found myself drifting and googling on my phone rather than foot tapping to the sound. Later I plugged them into my AV and stuck Warhammer on. They demonstrated the same level of excitement as I do when asked to do grocery shopping.....I sigh and wish I was more organised.
And that's these speakers. They sigh and just wish for £1k that they were good.
