Built to the highest standards
Constructed at their high-end manufacturing facility in Japan, the Marantz Cinema 40 is built to ‘battleship’ standards. The luxurious, metal-fronted casing with ported OLED display gives this AVC a premium look and feel that few others can match. Similarly, the internal electronics feature reference grade components, making Marantz’s most powerful Cinema AV unit also their highest quality sounding.
Power to spare
With 125 watts per channel, this Marantz has all the power that you're likely to need. This level of power bestows the Cinema 40 with a vice-like grip on the audio, delivering explosive dynamics with edge-of-seat drama and excitement. Even in larger home cinema rooms, the Cinema 40 has the power to deliver an enveloping and truly cinematic experience.
Control to match the power
Although mightily powerful, the Cinema 40 has the finesse to match. With the final sound quality spec meticulously tuned by Marantz’s Sound master, you can be assured of ‘best in class’ audio quality. Using their unique HDAM (Hyper Dynamic Amplifier Modules), the sound quality is lifelike and dynamic with a rich, spacious tone that wraps around you. Clock Jitter Reducer diminishes distortion to vanishingly low levels, helping to reveal subtle details.
Immersive 3D sound – the way you want it
From Dolby to DTS, Auro to IMAX, the Cinema 40 has a surround format to suit. Standard formats include Dolby Atmos, Dolby Atmos Height Virtualization Technology, DTS:X, DTS Virtual:X, IMAX Enhanced, Auro-3D and 360 Reality Audio. This huge range of options means that you can adapt your surround sound speaker system from the simplest system with ‘virtual height’ speakers to full-blown 11.4 systems that truly bring the cinema home.
Your choice of surround sound configuration
Featuring nine powered channels, the Cinema 40 gives you a wide choice of speaker configurations. Choose between 7.4.2 or 5.4.4 Dolby Atmos speaker configurations with two or four ceiling speakers. Alternatively, stick with 5.4.2 and power a second pair of speakers in another room or bi-amp your main pair of speakers. As your system grows, so the capability of this Marantz grows with it.
Upgrade potential
Add an extra stereo power amp via the 11 channel RCA outputs, and the Cinema 40 lets you configure four ceiling or Atmos-enabled speakers as well as full 7-channel surround sound. Alternatively, use two Atmos speakers and enjoy a broad soundstage with 'front wide speakers' forming a 9.2.2 system. If you don't fancy a Dolby Atmos specific system but want the most immersive sound possible, go for an 11.2 configuration. This offers 7.2 sound with the addition of front width and front height speakers.
Quad subs for balanced bass
For the best-balanced bass, the Cinema 40 has four passive subwoofer outputs. This lets you place a subwoofer in each corner of the room, giving a smooth, even bass response. With four bass channels, you can also use smaller subwoofers. This gives you a tighter, punchier bass whilst not missing out on bass weight and depth.
Acoustic room correction by DIRAC Live* or Audyssey
Thanks to state-of-the-art digital room correction from DIRAC, the Cinema 40 offers pro-level room optimisation. DIRAC live uses a USB microphone (not included) and dedicated PC software to take multiple readings around your room and feed the information back to the amplifier for a completely bespoke response (professional set-up recommended).
*Requires additional payment.
MultEQ XT32 for simple room set-up
In addition to DIRAC, the Cinema 40 also features set-up optimisation from Audyssey's high-end MultEQ XT32 system. The XT32 version of this automatic measuring and set-up device features include Audyssey Dynamic Volume, Dynamic EQ, LFC and SubEQ HT for total control. If you want to take this even further, purchase the MultEQ Editor App (at additional cost) and you've access to advanced user settings.
Premium connectivity, including 8K compatible HDMI interface
As a high-end Marantz Cinema AV unit, you get no fewer than seven HDMI inputs – all of which are 8K and 4K/120Hz ready, for a fully Ultra High Definition future. Two of the three outputs are 8K compatible, too. Additional upgrades include composite and component inputs for legacy sources, plus wide range of installation friendly sockets, such as DC power outputs – making it a truly versatile system hub.
A gaming advantage
The enhanced HDMI interface makes this Marantz AV receiver ideal for pairing with the latest games consoles. There’s support for 4K/120Hz and VRR (Variable Refresh Rate), giving you the best resolution and clarity. Quick Frame Transport (QFT) and Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) help eliminate lag and frame tearing, giving you a smoother, more responsive gaming experience.
Wide-ranging HDR support
The Cinema 40 supports a wide range of High Dynamic Range video formats. These include Dolby Vision, HDR10 and HLG. It also supports HDR10+, which enhances picture realism by sending dynamic Meta data to your TV, as well as Dynamic HDR. In short, whatever the format used by the film, game or stream, the Marantz supports it.
Bluetooth, AirPlay 2, Internet Radio, Spotify Connect and much more
With both Bluetooth and AirPlay 2 connectivity, it's easy to connect all your smartphones, tablets and compatible lap/desktops and stream music wirelessly. Simply connect to your home network via Ethernet or wi-fi and access thousands of Internet radio sites via TuneIn as well as subscription services such as Spotify Connect, TIDAL, Deezer, Amazon Music and more (premium accounts may be required).
Voice control via Alexa, Google Assistant and Siri devices
For the latest in smart home tech, Marantz have made the Cinema 40 compatible with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant and Siri devices. Simply download the HEOS Home Entertainment Skill app and then just ask Alexa or the Google Assistant to perform basic functions. Using the Apple Home App, Siri voice control from your Apple iOS device brings added functionality over AirPlay 2 – including grouping devices.
HEOS built-in - for the finest multi-room audio
HEOS multi-room music systems connect together by dual-band Wi-Fi, making them easy to set up with your existing home network. Up to 32 HEOS units can be set up at one time, ensuring even the largest of homes are covered for multi-room music. With HEOS already built-in, the Cinema 40 is ready to go as a single 'zone' without any further adaptors.
A masterpiece in design and engineering, the Marantz Cinema 40 delivers the ultimate home cinema experience.

The Bowers & Wilkins 704 S3 is a compact floorstanding speaker of exceptional ability.
Compact floorstander for smaller rooms
The smallest floorstanding speaker in Bowers & Wilkins 700 Series, the 704 S3 works brilliantly in smaller to medium-sized rooms. Despite the compact dimensions, the speakers use twin bass woofers to deliver a deep, punchy sound.
Twin cones for punchy bass from a slimline cabinet
The 704 S3’s use compact, slimline cabinets for room-friendly aesthetics. To make up for the narrower bass driver width, they use twin cones for a deeper, harder hitting response. Developed via CAD (Computer Aided Design), the 704 S3’s bass woofers use variable thickness cones for light weight and maximum rigidity where needed. The result is fast, responsive bass that’s every bit as rhythmic as it is deep.
Mid-range realism
First developed for Bowers & Wilkins’ flagship 800-series, the Continuum woofer design plugs the gap between bass and treble with exceptional smoothness. The highly developed design helps deliver class-leading vocals that makes the singers sound as though they’re in the room with you. Not only that, rather than the mid-range standing aside from the rest of the music, it seamlessly blends in, further helping the ‘live music’ effect.
Hear pin-sharp detail with Carbon Dome tweeters
Purpose-built for the 700 Series, Carbon Dome tweeters elevate this speaker’s top-end detail. With a far higher breakup threshold than aluminium tweeters, they greatly reduce harmonic distortion, giving a natural purity to the highest frequencies that’s hard to beat.
Premium finish
Exquisitely crafted to the highest standards, the 700 Series upholds the tradition of Bowers & Wilkins' class-leading quality. The 704 S3 comes with a bespoke plinth that uses aluminium feet for contrasting style as well as practical isolation. Available in a choice of Gloss Black, Satin White or Mocha, there’s a finish to suit your décor.

Alternatively, when used with other Bowers & Wilkins 700 Series models they make the ideal home cinema effect channel speakers.
Continuum woofer for lifelike clarity
First developed for Bowers & Wilkins’ flagship 800-series, the Continuum woofer design puts a natural mid-range and articulate bass response as its highest priority. The highly developed design helps produce class-leading vocals that makes the singers sound as though they’re in the room with you. In its long-throw format, as used by the 707 S3, it goes lower than you might expect from such a compact speaker, although always puts bass clarity and timing ahead of ultimate depth.
