Much slimmer than most AV receivers, the Marantz Cinema 70s offers true home cinema sound, in style.Make the most of your AV receiver. View our hottest deals on HDMI cables, interconnects and speaker cables.
Half the height
If you like the idea of top quality cinema sound but are put off by the bulk of typical AV receivers, then the Marantz Cinema 70s makes the ideal choice. At just 109mm tall, it's around half the height (or less) of a typical AVR. This not only makes it easier on the eye but also allows it to be slotted in where many other AV receivers simply won't fit. Curved styling, with neat features such as the porthole display simply add to the visual appeal.
All the sound
Slim in size but most definitely 'full fat' in terms of sound, the Cinema 70s lives up to Marantz’s hallmark sonic reputation. Meticulously tuned by Marantz’s Sound Master, the Cinema 70s is equally as happy with a blockbuster soundtrack as it is with a Hi Res music file or even a vinyl record. Pure Direct Mode gives the most detailed and least distorted sound when playing stereo music.
Dolby Atmos and DTS:X for total immersion
Making the most of the Marantz’s high quality amplifier, this Marantz AVR offers Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. Both formats use ceiling or up-firing speakers in a 5.2.2 configuration, for three-dimensional and fully immersive sound. Whether it’s rain falling in a tropical jungle or the intense sound of overhead gunfire, Dolby Atmos and DTS:X put you in the centre of the action.
Extra height, without the speakers
As impressive as Dolby Atmos and DTS:X sound, it’s not always possible to accommodate the extra speakers. This is where Dolby Atmos Height Virtualization and DTS Virtual:X Height Virtualisation come in. Play any Dolby format and enjoy a more immersive sound with virtual height enhancement – using your existing speakers. DTS Virtual:X also creates a more enveloping sound from any DTS codec. Compatible with 2.1, 5.1 or 7.1 speaker configurations, DTS Virtual:X gives the impression of height and immersive sound.
Compatible with 8K and the latest technologies
With six HDMI inputs, the Cinema 70s is ready for the most extensive AV systems. Three of the HDMI inputs and the HDMI output meet the HDMI 2.1 standard, meaning they support 8K, 4K/120Hz signals and more. The Cinema 70s also supports the latest copy protection standard, HDCP 2.3, through all its HDMI sockets.
A gaming advantage
The enhanced HDMI interface makes this slimline Marantz AV receiver ideal for pairing with the latest games consoles. There’s support for 4K/120Hz and VRR (Variable Refresh Rate), giving you the best resolution and clarity. Quick Frame Transport (QFT) and Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) help eliminate lag and frame tearing, giving you a smoother, more responsive gaming experience.
Wide-ranging HDR support
The Cinema 70s supports a wide range of High Dynamic Range video formats. These include Dolby Vision, HDR10 and HLG. It also supports HDR10+, which enhances picture realism by sending dynamic Meta data to your TV, as well as Dynamic HDR. In short, whatever the format used by the film, game or stream, the Marantz supports it.
Bluetooth, AirPlay 2, Internet Radio, Spotify Connect and much more
With both Bluetooth and AirPlay 2 connectivity, it's easy to connect all your smartphones, tablets and compatible lap/desktops and stream music wirelessly. Simply connect to your home network via Ethernet or wi-fi and access thousands of Internet radio sites via TuneIn as well as subscription services such as Spotify Connect, TIDAL, Deezer, Amazon Music and more (premium accounts may be required).
Voice control via Alexa, Google Assistant and Siri devices
For the latest in smart home tech, Marantz have made the Cinema 70s compatible with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant and Siri devices. Simply download the HEOS Home Entertainment Skill app and then just ask Alexa or the Google Assistant to perform basic functions. Using the Apple Home App, Siri voice control from your Apple iOS device brings added functionality over AirPlay 2 – including grouping devices.
HEOS built-in - for the finest multi-room audio
HEOS multi-room music systems connect together by dual-band Wi-Fi, making them easy to set up with your existing home network. Up to 32 HEOS units can be set up at one time, ensuring even the largest of homes are covered for multi-room music. With HEOS already built-in, the Cinema 70s is ready to go as a single 'zone' without any further adaptors.
Upgrade potential - 7.1 output
Although this slimline AVR performs superbly as is, there’s always room for more. With its 7-channel output you can upgrade some or all of the channels with a more powerful, higher quality power amp. Use a stereo power amp for enhanced 2-channel music, or go the whole way and add a 7-channel power amp for scintillating surround sound.
Connect everything from an 8K TV to a turntable
With six HDMI inputs (3x 8K and 3x 4K), the Marantz has you covered for connecting all your HDMI-equipped devices. An optical and coaxial digital input are ideal for connecting older devices or upgrading the sound from a compatible CD/Network player. Three analogue inputs are perfect for hi-fi components, plus there’s a further, dedicated MM phono input for plugging in a turntable.
Enjoy enveloping surround sound, in slimline style, with the Marantz Cinema 70s.

Fantastic and incredibly versatile sound system
Absolutely mind blowing media sound system. Incredibly easy to configure via mobile app/remote or front panel. It has two zones so you can have separate audio playing in two locations. It also has a built in Bluetooth transmitter meaning that you can add Bluetooth headphones or in my case, outside garden speakers.

Great value and highly recommended
Bought from the very helpful Plymouth store to replace an old, nice but broken Arcam AVR. Sounds great in a mid-sized (12'x15') room with my 5.1 B&W 602S3 / LG C9 OLED / Squeezebox3 setup - maybe not the power reserves of the Arcam but more than compensated by the up-to-date format support and faultless eARC connection to the TV - if I ever need more oomph (unlikely) it can easily drive external power amps. First D&M AVR and the scope and sophistication of the setup and network control options are a revelation! The Marantz Android app is a bit rubbish, but it integrates nicely with multiple 3rd party control systems - in my case working perfectly across an LMS / Squeezebox Plugin and the TV CEC / eARC controls to the extent that it's hidden away (runs cool at the volumes I use, even with all channels active) with no normal need to control it directly from a remote. The Trigger output can selectively power up external devices (in my case a Sub) via a relay only in required input modes - very neat!
One tiny warning is that the Richer Sounds rear-panel photo shows the US (older?) model. The supplied (current UK?) kit has no "Flasher" direct 3.5mm IR receiver input, My SB3 can be setup as an IR repeater so AOK, but if you want to hide it then you may need a standalone powered IR repeater.
So very happy with it, Dolby Atmos HDMI eARCpasstrough from the LG TV apps and virtualised speakers works a treat, and the Stereo Direct sound is lovely for music Great value in the Richer Sounds Easter sale and highly recommended!
