The Pro-Ject Debut E Carbon is the company’s entry carbon tonearm-equipped turntable. Usually found on more expensive decks, the 8.6” carbon tonearm delivers a significant upgrade in sound. But that’s not all that impresses about this deck. The MDF plinth and heavy steel platter ensure smooth, distortion-free playback. Electronic speed control makes for ease of use, as does the high quality, pre-adjusted Ortofon 2M Red cartridge.
Precision build for precise sound
Rather than plastic, the Pro-Ject Debut E Carbon features a high quality MDF plinth. This provides a rigid support that also damps vibrations. The 1.7kg steel platter ensures smooth and stable running, with a felt mat to damp vibrations. A high precision stainless steel bearing delivers low friction and long-lasting playback. Put together, the precision engineering means that you get to enjoy richly-balanced, low distortion sound that’s a big step-up from more basic turntables.
Electronic speed control
For ease of use, the Debut E Carbon features electronic speed control. Rather than having to lift the platter and manually change the belt position on the pulley, a change from 33 to 45 speed happens at the click of a switch. The deck also features a manually adjusted 78rpm pulley (78rpm stylus is recommended but not included).
Carbon fibre tonearm for a clearer connection to your music
Star of the show is the high-spec carbon tonearm. Usually found on more expensive turntables, this provides significant benefits to the sound quality. Being stiffer than steel, the tonearm is more rigid, which helps reproduce the music more accurately. In short, the music sounds tighter, punchier and more detailed.
Ortofon 2M Red cartridge included
Matching the quality of the deck and tonearm, the Debut E Carbon is supplied with an Ortofon 2M Red cartridge. Usually priced at around £80 on its own, this top quality cartridge ensures a high standard of connection with your records. The highly polished, tipped elliptical diamond gives excellent tracking without causing excessive wear to your vinyl.
