Built to maximise the full potential of Hi-Res music files, the Astell & Kern SR35 marks a massive upgrade in sound over a smartphone and even lesser Hi-Res portables. Compared to the award-winning SR25, it features a raft of technical improvements. With Quad DACs, adjustable gain and their own TERATON ALPHA processing, that’s usually only found on their more expensive models, this truly sets the standard at its price. Dynamic, insightful and incredibly lifelike; music on the move (or even at home) has rarely sounded so good.

Powerful amp, with 2-step gain control
At the heart of this impressive portable is a powerful new amp with 2-step gain control, giving a power output that’s up to 50% more powerful than the SR25 MKII. The ability to select a ‘High Gain’ output means that you can now use headphones that previously would have been too power hungry for a portable’s output. This means that you can now enjoy audiophile sound quality on the move, without the need for a separate headphone amp. A ‘Normal Gain’ setting is also available for regular portable headphones.

Wide range of headphone outputs
As well as delivering the power to drive your headphones, the SR35 also has the connectivity. For balanced headphones, it has a top quality 4.4mm, 5-pole balanced output. Alongside the 2.5mm, 4-pole balanced output, this gives wide-ranging compatibility with both headphones and headphone amps. Using a balanced signal between the source and headphones reduces noise and interference and is especially handy on the move. A standard 3.5mm unbalanced socket is also standard.

Quad DACs for improved depth and detail
The A&norma SR35 is one of Astell & Kern’s best value players to use Quad DACs (Digital to Analogue Convertor). Quad DACs help give the player increased control over the individual channels, reducing distortion and getting closer to the original recording.

TERATON ALPHA – A&K’s ultimate sound solution
The result of tens of thousands of hours of research and featuring A&K’s patented technologies, the Teraton Alpha Ultimate Sound Solution circuit is at the heart of this player. By using highly efficient power management with effective power noise removal it helps produce the lowest levels of distortion while maintaining a powerful, dynamic sound.

Flexible format player
There are many HD Audio recordings already available to download online and you may already have started a collection on your computer or NAS drive. Where the SR35 really scores is being able to take those recordings with you - in the highest quality possible. The SR35 supports a wide range of file formats, including WAV, FLAC, WMA, MP3, OGG, APE, AAC, ALAC, AIFF, DFF, DSF and MQA.

Native DSD256 support
With native DSD support at DSD256, the SR35 makes the most of this Hi-Res format. As an alternative to PCM sampling, many of the large music labels, including Sony, support DSD files. DSD is renowned for its huge dynamic range, ‘inky’ quiet backdrop and subtle detail that gives music ‘life’ and realism.

MQA playback
Compatible with Meridian's MQA (Master Quality Authenticated) technology, the SR35 offers the choice of using this ingenious system to save on storage space. Although studio master quality, the beauty of MQA is that files are small enough to easily stream and they don't take up so much space – giving the best of both worlds.

ReplayGain
ReplayGain automatically adjusts all the sound sources to an identical level. This lets you listen to a variety of playlists, seamlessly and without distracting jumps in volume.

Connect to your wireless headphones with Bluetooth LDAC
Bluetooth LDAC enhances the quality of a Bluetooth connection for more detailed and dynamic sound. Pair with compatible headphones, such as Sony LDAC models, and enjoy a much more detailed sound than standard Bluetooth connectivity.

AK File Drop for wireless transfer
With the AK File Drop function, transferring files is easier than ever. The File Drop system lets you freely transfer files wirelessly through a PC, smartphone or FTP programme located on the same network.

BT sink for wireless music transfer
The BT sink function, lets you wirelessly stream music to the SR35, similar to the way the player streams to your wireless headphones or Bluetooth speaker. Simply pair with your music device, such as a smartphone, tablet or laptop and stream the music across – wirelessly.

Long-lasting battery life
With a battery life of around 20 hours, the SR35 has the power to keep going for the longest journeys. Charging time is around 2.5 hours.

With 64GB of internal memory, the SR35 stores about 625 tracks (24 bit/96kHz, 4 minute-long, 90MB) songs on its flash memory. With the addition of a micro SD card, this can be increased by up to a massive 1TB – enough for a lifetime’s collection of music.
