As a transport only, the Audiolab 6000CDT comes without a built-in DAC (Digital to Analogue Convertor). This not only saves you money but also gives you the freedom to choose your own DAC; or partner the CD transport with a digital amp, such as the matching Audiolab 6000A.

Matches the 8000A beautifully...
I have the Audiolab 8000A and required a new CD player, the 6000CDT. I wanted to tidy and simplify my system. The CDT matches the 8000A well and sits very neatly beneath it.
I couldn't be happier! Sonically, using the required DAC in the 8000A, the sound is rhythmic, clear, and very precise.

Audiolab 6000CDT
I recently replaced an all-in-one unit with a new amp therefore leaving me without a cd player. I also have a Cambridge Audio CXN V2 so decided to get a CD transport and use the digital input on the streamer. I preferred the black finish and slot loading of the Audiolab 6000CDT over the obvious CA offering. The Audiolab 6000CDT and Chord C-digital cable are working well together, definitely highly recommended from me.

Simple things done well
Bought this CD transport on the back of other reviews and so that it gave me flexibilty to upgrade other components of my system in the future. I paired with a powernode and the sound is so clean and detailed. Looks great too and prefer the mechanism to disc draw CD players

Amazing sound, unbelievable price!
I bought this cd transport a few days ago to complete the upgrade of my hifi system. Unlike my previous cd player the Audiolab doesn’t have its own internal DAC. Instead it relies on an external DAC. The advantage of this is that you can use a DAC of your own choosing and tailor the sound to suit your own ears. I’m using a Wolfson DAC which is superb quality and with the cdt6000 I get sound which I think compares favourably with cd players costing 3-4 times its price. Very happy indeed!
