Cambridge Audio Solo (Graphite)
Moving Magnet Phono Preamplifier
£199
Whatever amp you have, the Cambridge Audio Solo gets you closer to the true sound of vinyl.
Perfect for amps without a phono preamp built-in
Many amplifiers no longer come with a built-in phono preamp, which is fine if you don’t use vinyl but not so good if you want to spin some records. The Cambridge Audio Solo is a dedicated Moving Magnet phono preamp, meaning you can add a record deck to just about any amp or system with a standard AUX input. This means your choice of stereo amp or receiver is greatly expanded and, of course, you can retain the Solo phono preamp if you upgrade your main amp.
Perfect for amps with a phono preamp built-in!
Even if your main amplifier already has a phono preamp built-in, the chances are that the one inside the Solo is considerably better. Using a dedicated, switch mode power supply, the Solo is far quieter than most built-in phono preamps. The revised circuit board layout with surface-mount components further reduces noise and distortion. Factor in the shielded casing and you’ll simply hear more music and less background noise.
Subsonic filter
Not all records are pressed the same – due to the poor quality of vinyl used, some sound considerably nosier than others. Wear and tear can play its role in reducing the quality, too. With its subsonic filter, the Solo filters out low frequency rumble; reducing distortion and protecting your speakers’ woofers from excessive wear.
Make a stronger connection with your record collection, with the Cambridge Audio Solo – it’s the best upgrade to your vinyl playback you can make.

A great piece of kit
I bought this item to team with my Rega 3 deck and my (new) Cambridge CXa61.
The results are excellent and you'd have to pay a lot more to improve the result
A great piece of kit

My Vinyl has Renewed Sound
In November I acquired a CXN V2, I was so impressed that after reading reviews I decided to take advantage of the Cambridge Audio Open Box offer and purchase a CXA 61 amplifier, again I was even more impressed. Shortly before it's arrival I played an Oxfam Shop vinyl purchase for a friend and was pleased how good it sounded on my Thorens TD 150 Mk II through my B&W 303 speakers. They sounded even better with the new amp, a transparency of sound and a wide sound stage. So I decided that a CA Solo would do the trick in order to be able to play my small collection of vinyl and those of my friends, additionally I decided to treat my 1973 Thorens deck to a new MM cartridge, Goldring E3 to replace my original one. I spent the following morning installing the Solo, E3 and swapping the cables around. I am so pleased with the result, the sound is superb, from the CXN V2 and my Arcam CD player, but especially from the Thorens deck and it's new E3 cartridge. I inaugurated it on vinyl with Bob Marley 'No Woman No Cry, and Maria Callas Tosca Act 3, it was sublime.
Once again, my thanks to the Holborn Branch staff for their advice and great service!

Great sound, small and no vents, easy to hide
I bought this 2 weeks ago, makes my old vinyls sound a lot cleaner than they are. I use Audio-quest Tower 0.6m analogue interconnects for under £30 they sound more musical than my much more expensive "wire world" interconnects to my CXA81. The little Alva Solo adds a warmth and richness to my turntable that leaves me feeling like i no longer need to upgrade my turntable, well done Richer Sounds, 2 great products.

Fantastic reproduction of my vinyl
Bought this last week to supplement Cambridge Audio amplifier and love the quality of the sound reproduction. It brings out the quality of the recordings so well and has added new life to my vinyl collection.

Excellent sound quality
Does what it says on the tin. Purchased from Richer Sounds which is always the best option in my opinion. Used this for my Project turntable and very happy with the result.
