Ortofon 2M Bronze
MM Cartridge
£325
Hear every ounce of the music, with the highly revealing Ortofon 2M Bronze.
Superior Moving Magnet sound quality
If you’re using a Moving Magnet phonostage then the Ortofon 2M Bronze presents a significant upgrade in sound quality. Suitable for decks costing right up to £1000 - £2000, the 2M Bronze can withstand many upgrades to the rest of your kit before it’s out of its depth. It gives an extremely precise and detailed sound that reveals subtle details in the music you may never even knew where there.
Fine Line diamond
With just the Black above this cartridge in the 2M range, the 2M Bronze is a top performer. Using an expensive Fine Line diamond that drops deep into the record’s groove, the 2M bronze pulls out far more detail than lesser cartridges. A wide contact also means less damage to your precious records.
Superior construction
Using a body made from Lexan DMX Piano Black, the 2M Bronze is extremely rigid while also eliminating unwanted resonances. This reduces distortion, bringing detail to the fore and promotes a more natural sound. Attention to detail extends to split pole pins with silver-plated copper wire – for the most musical transition of sound.
To hear all the music deep in your records, fix a 2M bronze to your tonearm and prepare to be impressed.

Best Cartridge I’ve Ever Owned
I’ve used Ortofon cartridges for many years so decided to use them again. I considered the Ortofon Black initially but the stylus angle is flatter that that of the Bronze so the cartridge sits very low to the disc. I thought that a slight warp might make the record unplayable.
The Bronze has produced some amazing sounds. The only slight drawback is that as well as picking up subtle sounds from the recording it also emphasises any muck that has collected in the grooves.
I’ve cleaned a couple of albums with success to a record cleaner is next on the list.

Detailed and articulate.
I bought the bronze to compliment my LP12 and Akito set up. The Ortofon 2m bronze cartridge presents a very involving, lively rendition with good sound staging. I also rate accuracy and clarity, especially with vocals and acoustic guitar.
On the down side it was difficult to fit to the Akito. Being quite large the body fowled the wiring on the arm and this required some easing to get a satisfactory mount.
All in all though, a good performer with the added upgradeability to the black, a welcome advantage.

Can you improve a budget deck with a new cartridge
So my wife cleaned my Samsung SR 222mk5 yes old 2M blue was no more so I fitted the red stylus yes they are an a direct swap upgrade so what to do an upgrade to the bronze is a body change as the internals are different I wondered if it would be over kill? Yes probably but it has still made a significant improvement across the whole musical spectrum

Unbelievable
To be honest I was a bit sceptical about how much difference it would make and I have to say I’m blown away with the quality of sound.

Execellent Service & Product
I own a project evo turntable which came with a 2M red. I have upgraded the turntable with new acrylic platter etc. The final upgrade would be the cartridge. I bought the 2M Bronze over the phone which arrived the next day. Excellent service. After 30 mins had the cartridge installed. The difference is noticeable. More depth, Voices stand out more with more control in the highs and lows It is what the turntable deserved. Dead chuffed with the sound. I would certainly recommend this cartridge and I can upgrade in the future to the 2M black needle!....

Glad I looked after my old vinyl collection
An upgrade as close to the source was my thinking, not having a fortune to spend, and having a decent arm (SME 3009/3 from 1979). So this cartridge cost four times the one it replaced (a Goldring 1012). Listening to Joni Mitchell 'Hejira' was my first test and I was pleased with the additional detail and vocal presence. Hard to be precise in this sort of thing, but the different diamond profile does seem to reduce the surface noise a little, not that there is much on most of my discs.
