Ideal for desktop and compact systems, the Tangent preAmp III is a versatile pre-amp that works in all sorts of scenarios. Pair with a power amp for a bespoke hi-fi system or add connectivity and control to your active speakers. With Bluetooth, digital and analogue inputs, it’s ideal for controlling an entire system, taking in everything from smartphone to turntable.
The ideal match for the Tangent Power Ampster III
Less than half the width of regular hi-fi separates, the preAmp III is easy to place and makes the basis for a premium desktop system. For powering passive speakers, pair with Tangent’s matching PowerAmpster III and enjoy powerful sound from a compact combo that takes up far less space than a regular amp.
Bluetooth 5.1, wireless connectivity with aptX HD
Connect to your smartphone or tablet and listen out loud, without the hassle of cables. Wireless Bluetooth connectivity can also be used with an ever-growing range of components, such as the latest turntables and TVs. The quality Bluetooth 5.1 connection is also compatible with aptX HD, giving you improved resolution for more detailed sound quality.
Connect your turntable
Featuring a switchable phono input, this compact pre-amp also makes an ideal partner for your turntable. Designed to work with Moving Magnet cartridge-equipped decks, it’s widely compatible with the majority of turntables. If you aren’t using a turntable then simply switch to ‘Line’ at the back of the unit and plug in your CD player, network streamer or other line-level device.
Digital and analogue inputs
With a high-spec DAC (Digital to Analogue Convertor) at its heart, this pre-amp maximises the sound from your digital sources. Use the digital optical input for your TV, games console or other device and enjoy crisp and accurate, digital sound. For analogue sources, there are RCA phono and 3.5mm AUX inputs.
Studio-quality balanced outputs
For the best possible connection with your power amp or active speakers, the Tangent preAmp III has XLR balanced outputs. When used with a compatible partner, these offer an ultra-low distortion connection, with excellent resistance to electrical interference. Because the signal is balanced, it also loses far less signal quality over longer lengths, making it an essential connection for distances over 10 metres. For added versatility, it’s also fitted with RCA phono outputs and a dedicated subwoofer out.
Headphone output
Completing this feature-packed pre-amp, the headphone socket means that, if you only ever use headphones, the preAmp III could be used solo as a multi-source headphone amp. The 6.35mm socket makes the best quality single-ended connection with larger, home-use headphones.
