Using twin toroidal transformers, the Edge W cancels electromagnetic interference. This gives lower distortion and an ‘inky black’ background, meaning you’ll hear every subtle detail of music – no matter how quiet.

This highly developed hybrid amplifier has no problem driving hard as it does sounding precise. Packing a true 100 watts per channel at 8 ohms and a monstrous 200 watts at 4 ohms, the Edge W is unfazed by almost any speaker. This is an amazing power amplifier
If you are considering a high quality power amplifier at a reasonable price, look no further.
The difference in sound from my 851a, which is a very good amp itself, is nothing short of stunning.
The bass is tight and dynamic and the detail in the sound, that I didn’t hear previously, never fails to amaze me every time I spin my music, and I don’t believe that it is even run in yet.!
Thank you to Richer Sounds Sheffield for the demo, they were highly professional and accommodating as always.

Immediate thoughts after 24hrs: WOW More spatial soundstage Effortless power More control in all areas at both high and low volumes And most of all... So much more detail is being revealed in tracks I know (or thought I knew) inside out!
I thought, and still think, that the 851W is an exceptional power amplifier. However, this Edge W is just on another level and I was NOT expecting that.

Great power requires control!
This is a punchy amplifier that works well at medium to high levels. If you like your rock or heavy metal, then this amplifier will rock your socks off, however, for those who prefer more finesse, grace and control (as well as low level listening) this may not be for you.

Great sounding kit, but with some awkward bits!
I really like the clariy this kit brings - and supports streaming and good access to my preferred service - Tidal. Needing 2 Apps to use its functions (ie to access and manipulate "media" seems bizarre but it does work. The connection to my media especially seems flaky -working throgh teh App on one phone but not the other (it doesnt find my HDD drive plugged in the back of the NQ). The sound is great though.
And the service through the Maidstone branch (Steve and Jason) was terrific - helpful and enthusiastic.
I hope that Cambridge "fix" the App and also make it support the MQA Master series files that Tidal offers

A superb sounding power amp
I bought the Edge W to replace a power amplifier from a well-known Canadian manufacturer that is need of repair but cannot be sent away because the repair shop is closed due to the COVID-19 situation. I already had the Edge NQ so I expected the W to sound good but it has certainly surpassed expectations. I would even go so far as to say it's the best power amplifier I've ever owned. It drives my Harbeth Monitor 40.1s to perfection and after a little experimentation with speaker cables even the big 12 inch bass drivers are behaving themselves. The superb bass response is probably the amp's most striking feature, but it sounds good right across the frequency range. The only drawback I've observed so far is the weight - you really do not want to carry this beast any further than you have to!

Outstanding Upgrade
I went into Richer Sounds Bournemouth to purchase a Cambridge Audio CXA81 & CXN...whilst in there, I enquired with Greg, about possible future upgrades in terms of Power amps..Greg fortunately had a demo version in stock of the Edge W, and suggested that I have a listen...WOW.. It totally transformed the system..
I was so impressed by this unit that I returned 2 days later to purchase it ...
Many thanks to all the boys from Bournemouth, very knowledgeable AND of course Cambridge Audio...
