Excellent headphones.
I recently bought the Meze Classic 99 headphones from Richer Sounds, Plymouth. The 99s are a perfect match for my amplifier (Pioneer A30). The sound across all genres of music is brilliant. I never have to change the tone controls to listen to different types of music. The sales staff were very helpful and polite and it was they who recommended these headphones and they were spot on. The service from the sales staff was excellent. I have shopped at Richer Sounds, Plymouth before and they have always been very helpful. I would certainly go back in the future. 5 star.

Look great and sound better
Bought these for my father who enjoys his Pink Floyd AC/DC
We were both very impressed with the package presentation and the unveiling of the headphones inside
In the box is the fantastic Walnut with gold accents Meze 99 Classics, these are inside a Meze branded hard case, alongside two cables contained in their own bag
We plugged the headphones into the Denon amplifier and tried a few vinyl tracks, the sound leakage is absolutely minimal while inside the cups the tunes were loud, with fantastic sound separation, the deeps rumbled while the midrange vocals are clear and precise. The highs have amazing clarity giving a fantastic overall sound experience.
The comfort of the cups enables hours of enjoyable listening, only getting slightly warm later on
These headphones have great build quality, classical looks and present a soundstage far above their price range

Great build quality and materials, tuning lacking
I bought the 99 Classics a few weeks ago. The build quality is excellent: they aren't heavy but feel so we'll put together. Further more, I have only found one component on the whole headphone that is made of plastic, and you can't even touch it unless you explicitly try too. Everything you would need to touch on the headphone is either metal, wood, leather or very high quality fake leather, giving the handling and wearing experience a super premium feel.
It is a shame that the tuning feels very bloated. Though not boomy or distorted, the bass is heavily boosted on this headphone. The treble also feels slightly recessed. Both can easily be fixed with an EQ, however this takes away from the punchiness of the bass. Besides this, this headphone has plenty of detail, nothing compared to my AKG K702s, but that was not what I was expecting with this headphone. I was expecting a premium looking and feeling travel headphone with a fun sound, and with a little EQ, the Classics deliver on all those fronts.

What a lovely pair of headphones! Even straight from the box they sounded great. The fit is superb. Giving great isolation from the outside world. But after some heavy duty run in they really open up and offer up some fine attention to detail. Being paired with Dragonfly Cobalt takes them to the next level in extracting digital detail. Thoroughly recommended for the music lover on the move
