Product Information
With substantial engineering upgrades, the Origin Live Encounter Mk4 delivers high resolution sound from your vinyl.
Comprehensive upgrades
The Origin Live Encounter features a number of engineering improvements that takes the classic OL sound to the next level. This is the company’s most affordable tonearm with dual pivot bearings, as well as an improved headshell, azimuth adjuster and various other improvements. The result is a more fluid sound with even greater musical detail.
Dual pivot bearing
For the lowest levels of friction, the Encounter uses dual pivot bearings. These give the sonic advantages of uni-pivot tonearms – such as a natural, flowing sound – but without the fiddly setup and wobbly cueing issues. They’re also more robust than regular jewelled bearings, helping to ensure improved durability and longevity.
Single piece arm tube with enhanced headshell
The crucial job for any tonearm is to support the cartridge as rigidly as possible – while also allowing for friction-free travel across the record. By using a one-piece, aluminium arm tube, that’s exactly what the Encounter achieves. Improving on the Zephyr model, the Encounter model features a superior headshell design, with improved decoupling and lightweight finger-lift.
Precision adjustments, including azimuth
Azimuth adjusts the vertical tilt angle of your cartridge, ensuring that the stylus fits the groove as precisely as possible. The Encounter is also fitted with an enhanced VTA (height) adjustment that’s accessible from above the armboard, making instant adjustments possible. Using a falling weight side bias adjustment, the Encounter achieves a constant anti-skating force, with lower resonance than alternative designs.
High quality cabling – inside and out
Internally, the Encounter uses high-grade copper Litz wire. Cryogenically frozen to reduce discontinuities in the conductors, it helps improve the music’s transparency and detail. From the tonearm to your amp, the external cable offers low resistance and a high level of shielding for smooth continuation of the sound.
The perfect partner for higher end decks, Origin Live’s Encounter Mk4 makes a serious statement in sonic excellence.
