Punches well above its weight
Excellent value, the smaller size of this CD player than any previous model I have owned is much appreciated and does not come at a sacrifice in quality. The only thing I would change is that it would be nice to have a digital display, but at the price paid this is far from a complaint.

An excellent budget cd player.
I was looking for an inexpensive cd player to connect to a pair of active speakers. The reviews on this tangent model were positive and I gave not been disappointed. Yes, not having a display is a compromise but at this price the sound quality more than compensates.

Astonishing sound for the money
I purchased this after returning a Marantz CD player from Richer Sounds which developed a faulty on same day as delivery. I decided not to go with a replacement and got a refund. I then purchased the Tangent cd11 as a cheap alternative to connect to my marantz amplifier until I could decide whether to get another marantz product. I connected up the Tangent to my pm6007 and was amazed at the quality of the sound through my Bower & Wilkinson speakers. OK it didn't match the marantz cd with its pre-amp but the sound was excellent. I used a toslink audio cable and I am delighted with the player. I don't give a toss about the 1 second delay between tracks or the lack of a display. I don't mind not being able to select individual tracks number above 6. When I play an LP I don't play individual tracks so I am quite happy to play complete cd's. Great sound, robust build, and a bargain at the price.

Tangent vd player and amplifier
The advice I received on matching my requirements was excellent
The products appear to be perfect for what I needed, especially in the context of my advancing years and only having 50 pence eats now. That is not to say the tangent is inferior in any way though.

Precisely right for me
I was overwealmed with the different cd players on available the market. I wanted good sound, but it was also very important that the unit would move smoothly from track to track, and not readily jump on the the slightest mark or bit of grease on a cd. My tangent is in the "box" room, or man-cave if you like. I feed it into a keyboard amp. The room is so small, and the walls hard, that I don't think two speaker stereo would be noticed. All in all, I don't think I could have bought a better more suitable unit, and it was even under my maximum budget. The final selling point, was that this cd player is the cheapest one in the shop, but I knew that a shop like Richer Sounds has got to have a reputation, and they are effectively putting their name on these players. It had to be good!

arrived an hour &half ago let it come up to room temp a good sound clear acoustic guitar comes over well good detail rest of system tangent tuner/amp wharfdale diamond 9 no. read out though(what track playing not to important but would have been nice manual not very good) yes I would recommend

Nice Hi Fi CD player with great looks and sound
I brought this to replace my Arcam alpha one of many years which finally stopped reading CD’s. Having read the reviews and the fact that it fitted my budget, I placed my order.
I was impressed from opening the box, a very solid high quality unit with superb sound quality which belies its price. Nice touch that they include an optical cable in the box.
