100W per channel
With 100W per channel, the AS201 is one of the most powerful amplifiers in its class. Details such as placing the power transformer close to the power amp circuit, for low signal loss, helps the AS201 produce a powerful and dynamic sound. If you've got a larger than average room to fill, or difficult speakers to drive, the AS201 should be your main contender.
Yamaha's 'Natural Sound'
Based on Yamaha's concept of 'Natural Sound', the AS201 has been designed from the outset to sound evenly balanced and realistic. Only with painstaking attention to detail, such as connecting the signal and power grounds at one point to eliminate mutual interference, is this possible. Its higher signal-to-noise ratio means you hear more of the music and less distortion. For an even more detailed, true-to-life sound, the Pure Direct switch bypasses the tone and balance controls.

The AS201 comes with a built-in MM phono stage, allowing easy connection of a turntable, plus four other RCA inputs plus an audio output. Fabulous little amp
If you're setting out in the fabulous world of hifi, Make sure your speakers are a match for this amp, ( just ask any of the knowledgeable staff on hand at Richer Sounds) sit back and take in the range of sounds offered up by Yamaha as201.

Great Service 30 Years Ago -Same The Other Day!
I bought my hi-fi system in the mid-90s from Richer Sounds, Nottingham and have had many years of great music-playing on it since then. My amp started to get a bit temperamental last year and I had it repaired. It worked fine for a while then went on the decline once more; time for it to be put out to pasture, it had served me well..
So, off it was to Richer Sounds, Nottingham, again, to find a replacement. The buying experience was exactly as I hoped for. Attentive staff member who listened to what I wanted and my budget and then proceeded to show me a few options that would fit the bill, pointing out the key features and how they would meet requirements based on what I had told him. Knowledgeable, efficient and understanding the brief. I left with my new amp, got home and plugged it all in and could not have been happier. It sounds superb and buying it involved zero faff or hassle. See you again in 25 odd years, Richer Sounds, Nottingham!

So simple and elegant
I bought this after inheriting a vinyl player that was producing very crackly sounds. The output through this amp is so much better; it works very well.
Also love the simplicity of the machine, just a few buttons and understated in its appearance. The remote is quite busy though (but I don't use it so it doesn't bother me).
Would recommend and very happy with my purchase.
