Yamaha RX-A2A reciever
I recently bought this product and it arrived on Tuesday.
I had previously owned a Marantz that’s finally gave up the ghost after many years and my budget wasn’t huge so I looked around and spoke to many different stores and finally after talking to Richer Sounds I decided that this would be a good option.
I was expecting a good product but was sure that it wouldn’t have the extras and the power I had in my Marantz. I was pleasantly surprised.
I am an avid film buff I collect 4k movies and I love music. I needed a product that would be able to handle both. Firstly the setup was so easy and straightforward and plugging in my speakers etc was very easy. The first thing I tried was my cd player. It didn’t seem
To be too great through an optical cable but through RCA it sounds fantastic.
I tried the internet radio stations again brilliant.
Music through a USB stick or device at the front of the reciever again was surprisingly better than I expected as I was playing downloaded tracks from Apple that I had purchased,(aac files) and also flac. The sound is clear the clarity is brilliant and I love the bass. You again can change your bass and treble and there’s the added bonus of extra bass and bi-amping which I have never used but can really improve the clarity.
The next and more important part was the try out my films and again the sound is beautiful. I cannot believe for my budget how good this product is. I know I could probably get an even better Yamaha but really for what I require this is perfect.
The remote control is a really good size and weight and it’s sturdy, it’s not back lit but that is not a bad thing for me cut for those of you that require that, it could be an issue. The remote also controls my cd and blu ray player so I have no need for a lot of bothersome remote controls. One is ideal.
I have streamed they Netflix and Amazon with no issues either.
So my one negative….. the display at the front is smaller but it’s ok but they on tv display and menus seem
Basic and to be honest slow but saying that easy to navigate and find all I need.
The earbuds that came through free are good too can’t believe they are with £160 but get they are good and I’m not about to look a gift horse in the mouth. They connected to the reciever easy but they are fiddly before you get used to them. But they were free.
The receiver is on offer at the moment and does have £85 cash back from Yamaha so personally I think this a brilliant time to buy it.
This product is plastic and that worried me but it’s been so much easier setting up than it was my heavy Marantz. It not only sounds fabulous it looks good too.

DAB tuner won’t receive BBC6 and some others
I chose the A2A to replace my Yamaha RX-V500D for the built-in Bluetooth headphones option however the new DAB tuner wouldn’t receive BBC6 and some others that my V500D did receive. Luckily Richer Sounds were fantastic and helped with an alternative. Incidentally I found the A2A remote really poor [no raised keys so always necessary to look at the remote - non ergonomic] and the minuscule screen meant trouble shooting the tuner problem was tedious. The Yamaha setup process was also more complicated than the Denon alternative I selected.

Excellent AV receiver
Bought this from the Leeds branch and without going into techy details because I don't have clue about that side of things. If you want a great AV receiver, without having to spend over a grand, buy this one. The sound and features are superb. And so are the staff at the Leeds store. They even gave me and my partner an umbrella as it was raining.
A special shout out to Mike, with thanks for his patience and knowledge, which enabled me to make the right choice. Richer sounds is one of the last bastions of all things AV. And I certainly recommend them. If they go from the high street, then what will we be left with.

Superb !!!
I bought the RX-A2A to replace my old Yamaha DSP-A5, which was starting to fail after many years of loyal service.
Connecting it up was easy although the speaker connections are quite small, close together and fiddly compared to the DSP-A5.
Set-up is through an on-screen user interface and I found it quite slow to respond, although this is not a big problem for me because it is not something that I would use every day.
Once connected to my home network, the amplfier performed a firmware update which took 15 minutes or so, and went smoothly.
My first impressions are good - aesthetically speaking, the piano black fascia looks gorgeous (and matches my B&W CM9's nicely). Some reviews have criticised the build quality, but I feel it is comparable to that of the DSP-A5.
Most importantly, the sound is detailed and well controlled, dialogue is crisp and there is plenty of power available when the soundtrack demands it. It is streets ahead of my old amp, but that's 15 years of progress!
Richer Sounds did a fantastic job with the delivery - I ordered it on a Friday with an expected delivery day of the following Monday - but they then delivered it 2 days early on the Saturday. It's almost as if they knew how excited I'd be to get my hands on it!
Particular thanks to Patrick (Cheltenham store) for his knowledge, advice and painstaking research into my requirements.
