Painstakingly handbuilt, the AVID Altus is made to the highest standards and finest tolerances. Using much of the technology found in the flagship Nexus model, the tonearm delivers exceptional performance for the money.
Rigid arm tube for sonic precision
Using a 2mm thick arm tube, the Altus boasts exceptional rigidity. The more rigid an arm tube, the less likely you are to miss out on subtle detail. Simply put, more of the music is passed on, undistorted, letting you hear every breath of detail.
Solid headshell for optimised cartridge support
Laser cut from solid aluminium, the integrated headshell provides a steadfast base for your cartridge, giving it the best foundation possible. The integral cueing lift makes it easy to position the tonearm precisely where you want it.
High-spec bearings for smooth tracking
Handbuilt and ground to micron limits, the ball bearings ensure the smoothest movement possible, with the least amount of friction. This ensures that the cartridge tracks the record’s groove as accurately as possible, giving a lifelike rendition of the music.
Variable bias for consistent sound
Bias adjustment pulls back against the tonearm’s natural inclination to swing straight to the centre of the record. With the Altus, AVID have further tuned the bias to provide even force across the entire record surface, giving a consistent sound throughout.
