The MC advantage
MC (Moving Coil) cartridges are more expensive to make than MM (Moving Magnet) designs and the stylus can’t be replaced. The upside, however, is a more responsive motor unit that greatly improves the sound. Quality MC cartridges, such as the ALVA MC, give a smoother, more natural response than even higher quality MM cartridges do. The fast response also improves the music’s pace, rhythm and timing.
Exposed cantilever design for reduced distortion
Unusual in its class, the ALVA MC features an exposed cantilever design. This reduces unwanted resonance and vibration from the surrounding enclosure, giving a purer sound.
Get deeper into the groove with an elliptical stylus
Elliptical styli are shaped to a finer point than more basic spherical ones. This gives them a greater contact area with the record and also means they, literally, get deeper into the grove. The result is more music, more of the time.
Cambridge Audio style
Finished in lunar grey, the ALVA MC is the perfect visual match for the ALVA TT turntable and other Cambridge Audio products.
