Improving on a winner
Winner of a cabinet full of trophies, the previous CXN network player was something of a legend within its own lifetime. Such was its influence that, in 2023, it was inducted into the What Hi-Fi? ‘Hall of Fame’. Simply superb
I've been reading the reviews for this cxn100 and it's predecessor with some reservations but as Tidal have now simplified their tiers decided to bite the bullet. All I can say is thank you Cambridge Audio. I am hearing instruments and subtle nuances in music I've listened to for years that I never knew even existed. Absolutely blissful and worth every penny.

Incredible streamer!
I have a Cyrus Three Stealth all in one system, which has an in-built streamer. However, to use it meant negotiating the beyond woeful Cyrus Cadence app. This app is very slow, clunky, not intuitive and, more often than not, failed to connect or crashed. It is such a shame that Cyrus created this amazing system but invested nothing in their IT, which is essential to use it. It really is shocking.
I was ready to chop the Cyrus in, mainly in protest against the brand that I have been loyal to for 20 years, which would be a shame because the CD transport and Amplifier in the Three Stealth are absolute beasts (and for the £1,400 I paid for the system, still a bargain for just those two items). However, a bit of research and chats with dealers convinced my not to ditch the Cyrus, but to add a dedicated streamer. I was looking at the Bluesound Node-X, the Eversolo and this Cambridge Audio CXN100. I was also tempted by the MXN100 as well. My preference was the CA gear, noting their dominance in this part of the hi-fi spectrum and the usability of their app. Following a side-by-side listening test of the MXN100 and CXN100 at the Guildford store (thanks, Franklin for your help), I was in no doubt that I wanted the CXN100. The CXN just had better soundstaging, more detail and presented 'outside the speakers' more than the CXN.
I installed the new unit last night, which is running as an analogue input into the Cyrus (thus using the CA's impressive DAC) and out to my PMC speakers with REL subwoofer. The sound on high-res recordings is incredible and I can now see myself rarely reaching for the CD's because the DAC in the CXN100 is so good that high-res music played via Qobuz is out-performing the silver spinners, hands down.
So, overall, this is an incredible unit and I can only recommend it. It really is the next level in hi-fi and if you have a beloved amplifier but your system isn't 'smart', this will bring it bang up to date without having to change up too much of your system.

A new world of great sound
I've been playing this for just over a week now and I am delighted. I'm used to having a dedicated remote for hi-fi appliances but I am getting used to using my phone/tablet. Connection and set-up is quick - remember to get good quality connection cables (Craig at Richer Sounds in Edinburgh was helpful in answering questions so I could make my choice).
The features are good. I'm trialling Tidal using the in-built Tidal facolity having been an Apple Music subscriber to date. It's a pity the CXN100 doesn't come with Apple Music installed but `I suspect that's a block from Apple's side.
I wanted to explore internet radio from around the world and am having fun finding new stations to complement BBC6 Music.
I also bought Sony bluetooth headphones and am enjoying them (so light on the head). It would have been ideal if the CXN100 had a bluetooth transmitter but it doesn't.
All in all, quite happy to date.
