Sleek, Scandinavian design meets a full-bodied sound, with the DALI Opticon 2 MK2.
The classic all-rounder
Ideal for small to medium-sized rooms, DALI designed the Opticon 2 MK2 to be as flexible as possible. Able to operate effectively from just 10cm from a rear wall, the Opticon 2 MK2 makes a room friendly choice. Alternatively, if you've got the space, the 2's are just as happy at up to 80cm from the back wall.
Improved drive units for the finest sound
Featuring low-loss, wood fibre SMS woofers that are found in DALI's reference grade speakers and a brand new soft dome tweeter derived from the Callisto range, the Opticon 2 MK2 sounds better than ever. Designed for precision and accuracy of sound, the Opticon lets you hear the music exactly as the artist intended.
Dual Flare port for smooth, powerful bass
MK2 Opticon models feature a revised, Dual Flare port. Redesigning the port has delivered an optimised bass response, without creating undue turbulence that can distort the sound. The result is a richer bass at all volume levels.
Made in Denmark. Assembled in pairs
Rather than 'buying in' cabinets, DALI produces the Opticon cabinets in-house. This means they can be sure of the quality and consistency of build. The solid cabinets are designed for low levels of resonance giving low distortion and help to promote a natural sound. Assembled in pairs, the manufacturing process ensures the speakers are as closely matched as possible – meaning you get evenly balanced sound and the best visual match.
Improved style
The Opticon MK2 has a fresh new style. Cleaner and more minimalist than before, the Opticon 2 MK2 reflects its Scandinavian heritage. Available in a choice of Satin Black, Tobacco Oak or Satin White, there’s a finish to suit every décor.
Get a standmount speaker that punches hard, with the DALI Opticon 2 MK2.

Exists for a reason
It's a bit early to review such new speakers with so little time to run in. However here we go. I fetched them out of the box and thought hmm they are a bit homely, I hadn't noticed in the store because of the dark listening room, plastic baffles, visible screws, hmm. Ok let's move on to sound. To my ears, tuned for so many years to metal dome tweeters, my first impressions were meh, they are a bit too soft. But as I listened and over a couple of days of running in I started to understand, where as metal tweeters shouted loud and clear these sang, instruments are warm and natural and yet brass keeps it's hardness just like it should. I now know why these speakers exist, and why I bought them. They are not the beautiful party girl everyone wants to take home, these speakers respect the music, care about it and do to it proud. These speaker may be homely but put the covers on an yeah they are not so bad, feed them acoustic folk or jazz, maybe some instrumental rock, and wow they sound good. Those shouting party girls can stay on the shelf with all the other wanna-bees and think-they-ares. These Dalis came home with me and I can see us starting a new long term relationship, more of a wife that bit on the side. I hope my husband doesn't mind.

Detailed high performing speakers.
I bought these beauties a few months back and have been messing around with room acoustics and finding the sweet spot with a subwoofer—the Opticon 2 mk2 are just what I was looking for.
My B&W's 606s were too bright, and it hurt my ears when listening to certain tracks. The Opticon 2's are warmer sounding with great detail. I now have a subwoofer set up with them, and it sounds amazing. The non-metallic tweeter really suits my ears and doesn't seem to 'ring' as much as the previous pair. The only downside is that they show up badly recorded tracks!! I'm in audio heaven if I play audiophile quality or beautifully produced tracks.
Big thanks to Dave and all the others at Richer Sounds Liverpool for having the patience to let me listen to several speakers for a few hours. :)

Great speakers, good price, fast delivery
Ordered on a Thursday, delivered to Aberdeenshire on Saturday, £200 off RRP. What's not to like?! Oh yes, they sound fab too. A worthwhile upgrade on the Dali Spektor 2s (although it must be said they also sound amazing for their size and price tag).

Excellent speakers
First of all, I have to say thank you to all the staff in the Leeds store, especially Chris and Lee, who spent a lot of time helping me decide on the best speaker for my requirements. I think I spent about 4 hours in total, over a couple of visits, in the listening room.
My basic requirements were that I wanted to recommission my 30 year old Technics separates, with new speakers. I’d given the last set away when I put the system into storage. Something I regretted at the time but even more so 10 years later! I tried these, along with Monitor Audio, B&W and Wharfdale, initially starting off with a more limited budget. I was especially taken with the Dali and Monitor Audio but both the models lacked a little at the bottom end for my tastes. So, after thinking it over, I moved up the price range and size a bit, eventually settling in these Dali Opticon 2s. Chris then ‘sold’ me the demo pair to take home and try in my own environment, prior to ordering a new pair for me, once I’d confirmed I was happy with them. Which I definitely am! To be honest, I’m blown away by them, especially after burning them in for 50ish hours. I suspect they will only get better.
I’ve been using Richer Sounds for a very long time, mostly the Leeds store, certainly before the days of online reviews! I’ve never had anything but fantastic service from everyone and recommend them to anyone who asks me for a quality audio supplier, with excellent service.
I was back a few days later for a new streamer…..

Amazing sounding speakers!
I bought this during the Black Friday event and the items were delivered the same week. Have had them playing non-stop since I received them and the clarity of sound is top notch.

Superb speakers, excellent service
I had been happy with a 40 year-old separates system until my Bose 301s started to shred under higher bass-heavy volumes. Time for a complete re-think. I was convinced that my trusty 12 band per channel JVC equaliser would need to be a part of any new system, so I took it with me to a demo at the Solihull store. Martin, store manager, would be my mentor. I'd requested a demo of Rotel A11 amp, Rotel CD11 CD player and B&W 607 S2 Anniversary speakers. I took a variety of cds from the late 60s right through to the very recent, embracing rock and electronica, and some orchestral classical. Martin tried every which way to connect the EQ but it steadfastly made no difference, and I had to concede that modern amps and speakers rendered it redundant. Sound quality was very good without it. However, although the 607s were decent speakers, my ears found the treble a little wearing and the bass and mid somewhat lacking in punch. I admit that perhaps the fiendishly fierce bass and mid on 'Snug Slacks' by John Grant would be a severe test for any make of standmount speakers, but I was sure I could do better. In an inspired move, Martin brought in Dali Opticon 2 Mk 2 speakers, and then the game changed completely. I can only describe these speakers as absolutely stunning. I had never imagined I could get such clarity at the top end combined with such accurate, taut punch and kick from the bass and mid from standmount speakers. John Grant, his band and his producer were suddenly IN the room. However, although I found the clarity and detail of the third movement of Tchaikovsky's 6th Symphony (a very energetic and lively piece) very satisfactory, the overall orchestral sound, to my ears, lacked warmth. The Rotel's bass tone control did not improve this. In another inspired move, Martin then brought in the Cambridge Audio RX100 amp and that really did the trick, introducing a fine warmth to complement the excellent detail. John Grant really liked the Cambridge amp too. On the strength of the amp, I also bought the Cambridge Audio AXC35 CD player the following day. I am now the owner of what my ears consider to be a truly excellent system for the money I paid. But I want to give the highest possible praise to Martin. He allowed me some extra time to get it all right as the demo scheduled after mine was suddenly cancelled. Technically I am completely inexpert, and my attempts to explain what kind of sound I was after were, I'm sure, very inarticulate, but Martin listened patiently to everything I said and responded using his experience and knowledge of equipment to come up with a combination of kit which gave me exactly what I wanted. I can't praise Martin enough for this. He's also a very nice guy whose enthusiasm for quality audio shines through without any trace of the patronising, impatient talk-down I have occasionally experienced at other non-Richer Sounds hi-fi stores. Many thanks, Martin. Richer Sounds Area Manager, please take note!
