Power in its belly
At the heart of the Denon PMA-900HNE lies a powerful, high current amplifier. Delivering 50 watts per channel (85 watts per channel into a 4 ohm speaker), the Denon has the grunt to sustain high volumes in larger rooms. More than this, its high current design means that, even at low volumes, you get well-balanced sound with a full-bodied bass response. For even more bass, there’s a dedicated subwoofer output that’s ready to connect to your choice of active sub.
Low distortion
Despite having the punch to party, this Denon amp knows a thing or two about refinement, too. For the lowest distortion, Denon use an anti-vibration chassis with rigid steel plate supporting the power transformer. Reducing vibrations means subtle nuances in the music are clearer than ever. Discrete power amp construction prevents electrical and mechanical noise from the power transformer interfering with the other electronics.
The complete networking experience
With both Bluetooth and AirPlay 2 connectivity it's easy to connect all your smartphones, tablets and compatible lap/desktops and stream music wirelessly. The Denon also comes with wi-fi, Internet radio and DLNA. Simply connect to your home network via Ethernet or wi-fi and access thousands of Internet radio sites via TuneIn as well as subscription services such as Spotify Connect (Premium Spotify account required) and TIDAL.
Voice control via Alexa, Google Assistant and Siri devices
Denon have designed the PMA-900HNE to be compatible with all the main voice assistants, including Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant and Siri devices. Simply download the HEOS Home Entertainment Skill app and then just ask Alexa or the Google Assistant to perform basic functions. Using the Apple Home App, Siri voice control from your Apple iOS device brings added functionality over AirPlay 2 – including grouping devices.

HEOS multi-room music systems connect together by dual-band Wi-Fi, making them easy to set up with your existing home network. Up to 32 HEOS units can be set up at one time, ensuring even the largest of homes are covered for multi-room music. A HiFi Amp that really does it all!
Had this a week so far and I am very impressed. The sound quality is deep, full and immersive. I never realised how good Internet radio could sound. Channels like BBC Radio 3 are close to CD quality. The Phono section works extremely well with the lovely warm sound I love. It also switches between MM and MC so you can connect anything.
As with many streaming devices it has a relaxed attitude to getting started on anything and there can be a couple of seconds delay when switching sources, so don't be put off, it's well worth it.
At it's core this is a HiFi integrated amp that does streaming. The balance is right for me.
Setup was was a bit fiddly and long with the network etc. Like many connected devices you have to set up the network and I chose to wire it with an ethernet connection. All from my phone! It took about 10 minutes to get itself connected which surprised me, but once connected it started a system upgrade which took about another 20 minutes. When it was done I set up the WiFi as a backup which was very easy!
The HEOS platform is far from perfect but probably as good as anything else out there. But I like the fact that it will mesh with other Marantz and Denon equipment which for me opens up a lot of possibilities for an integrated audio future.
Now it's setup it is easy to use from the phone or the remote. I've hardly touched the unit itself!
Mine is connected to an old Rega III with a Goldring 1042 mm cartridge, a Marantz CD6004 connected with an optical cable - yes, the DAC is very good too!, and a pair of Kef 103.2 Speakers. I've got a medium size room but this amp has more than enough power to drive the speakers to very loud without any hint of stress.
I think if you want to upgrade to the connected world and all the opportunities that brings, this unit will not disappoint if you're used to decent HiFi sound. It actually does a good job or rendering the quality Internet sound sources that are now available.
You can of course spend an awful lot more, but for me this is a good entry into a whole new world of audio while not compromising on my old fashioned sources.

I went in to the Tunbridge Wells store with the aim of purchasing a whole new system with nothing but the idea of what I wanted... no clue how to achieve it. The entire team rallied and I was promptly offered professionally formed recommendations and options of which to choose from. I was made to feel informed and equipped without pressure to form one decision or another. I was offered a range of price options as well as robust installation and maintenance information, (which was key for me as I was to be managing the system myself).
I proceeded to purchase, same day, this AMP, accompanying double speakers and a further wireless speaker.
There was an issue with the wireless speaker due to an incorrect cable from the manufacturer- the store was able to switch this same day when I highlighted the issue and returned to store.
There was an issue with the first AMP recommended however with a house visit from a colleague the issue was identified and switched out for this AMP which has been able to cope seamlessly with the speakers requirements.
This AMP has powered all 3 with unrivalled quality with clear scope to expand the system should I wish to.

Versatile Amplifier that was easy to set up.
I bought this to replace a 35 year old Technics amp that wasn’t working properly. The new amp needed to connect to similarly old Technics peripherals and Linn Index speakers. In addition I liked the fact that this would drag me into the digital age with the ability to play Spotify through it and also internet radio. On top of that it’s possible to access iTunes on a computer and play that through the Denon. Particularly useful if you have many limited edition CD’s with rare bonus tracks saved to iTunes that would not be accessible on Spotify. It would be a pain to get the Cd’s out of the loft to play especially as they are on iTunes already. Set up was a breeze and it’s great to be able to switch between radio and Spotify using your mobile as the input. I am not a sound buff so can’t comment on the technicalities of the sound output but it seems fine to me. I’m very pleased with this purchase and with Richer Sounds Southampton who were very helpful with their suggestions on which amp would fulfil my needs.

Nice kit!!!!
Bought a month or so ago... lovely sound, very clear and precise. I use wharfdale diamond 220. The App and unit itself are very easy to use. I probably would have given it 5 stars, but you can only do somethings via the App and not the unit itself, i.e. network & Internet Radio. Which at times can be frustrating. Saying that, i wouldn't swap it.

Listening room winner
I arranged a listening room session at the Weybridge branch and Luca had it all set up and will versed in both models. I compared against the recently reduced price Marantz PM7000N. I was primarily interested in the built in DAC with HEOS streaming so tested it with a high quality stream from Tidal. Both have a gorgeous sound with excellent timing and soundstage but the Denon had slightly higher power and a slight edge in resolution. Both are a clear step up from my Marantz M-CR510 and I'm delighted with my new Denon. Excellent service as always!
