The original small hi-fi speaker
It's hard to believe that the original Wharfedale Diamond is now past its thirtieth birthday. All those decades ago, it was the Diamond speaker that proved, for the first time, that excellent quality sound could be achieved from a small, budget speaker. Since then there have been dozens of imitators, but the Diamonds remain amongst the best available.
Solid construction
The cabinet isn't just compact, it's also very solid. This combination gives the Diamonds an extremely accurate sound quality as the cabinet doesn't flex or vibrate. Equally impressive are the drive units. A soft dome tweeter gives the clarity and smoothness of sound you'd expect from a more expensive speaker, while the woofer cone uses a carbon fibre type weave to offer extremely taut and responsive bass.
Surprisingly powerful
With a front port, these bass reflex speakers are punchier than you might expect and in no way could they ever be described as tinny. Over all, they may be small but the sound is grown-up, with excellent staging, realism and surprisingly powerful.
Hi-fi connections
It's not just the major aspects of the design that Wharfedale have got right, it's the details, too. Proper 4mm banana sockets will accept thick cable and offer the best type of connection. Threaded sockets at the rear make for secure and easy bracket attachment.
At their original launch price of £100 these speakers were clearly market leaders. Now we're offering them at this bargain price, the Diamond 9.0 speakers are a gem of a deal!

Great value
I bought this set from the Stockport shop and they are great, I've paired them with a Panasonic sa-pmx802 and they have a crisp, clear sound in all ranges of music.

awesome
As an audiophile you learn what basic sound requirements should be in a speaker. Wharfedale deserve their multi star awards for budget speakers, the are clear with the right amount of bass, I was surprised how good these sound, punching well above its cost £59. Big rooms would be a problem though. Iv got them in the bedroom and the fill the room with more capsulated sound than some £300 plus speakers, I had the brands 220s in the lounge, so I knew they would be well established continuous replicated speaker, manufactured to a good standard.

You'll be "blown away" with the sound quality
My son bought a pair of Diamon 9.0's so he could play his vinyl through the amp he "borrowed" from me, I was very impressed with the sound so I bought a pair for "the radio shack"
I thought I would try them out in the lounge connected to my Denon RD-40 receiver/CD player. Now you have to consider these are quite small speakers so I didn't expect too much. To be honest...I've been "blown away" with the sound quality. The base is very solid and treble is quite bright and smooth. Playing the track "Enas Mythos" from Nana Mouskouri's "passport" album (Vinyl) was quite revealing it was almost as if the kettle drum was in the room with you. OK it's not going to be as good as a speaker 2 or 3 times the price but for £59 it's an absolute bargan

Truly Amazing Value
I bought these to replace some Acoustic Energy Speakers which I think years back cost around £200. I plan a serious upgrade in the future and wanted something to keep me going. I am playing a Marantz MCR611 through the Diamonds. The sound for me is very natural and definitely not "tinny". Don't be put off by the price.

A front firing bass port
…means they can be wall mounted or simply placed against walls and backed into corners without adding reflections to the audio quality. They’re not the most powerful speakers in isolation, but for the price they can be equalised to sound very decent. I use 2 pairs as heights in a 5.2.4 HT setup w\ a Denon X4700H and they work just as I hoped they would.

Excellent
I was looking for a small, reasonably priced but fair quality set of speakers for my “man cave” to couple with my Marantz system.
After reading the excellent reviews I took the gamble and very happy I did. The built quality is very good, better than I expected and the sound quality is excellent.
All in all very happy with my purchase and would recommend.

Excellent for budget speakers
Hi
I bought this speakers 2 weeks ago and I have to say, I am very impressed ,what you can get for 50 quid in this days and are brand new.
Bought in the same time an amplifier 50 quid with Bluetooth somewhere else,
If you need a pair of speakers but
not willing to spend a fortune get this ones, if you got few extra quid
(maybe in your piggy bank :)) go for Wharfedale Diamond 9.1
This review is about speakers but is hard not to mention about richersounds service, not much to say , when a service is perfect is no point to comment.
