Speaker legends don't get much bigger than the Wharfedale Diamond 9.0.
The original small hi-fi speaker
It's hard to believe that the original Wharfedale Diamond is now past its thirtieth birthday. All those decades ago, it was the Diamond speaker that proved, for the first time, that excellent quality sound could be achieved from a small, budget speaker. Since then there have been dozens of imitators, but the Diamonds remain amongst the best available.
Solid construction
The cabinet isn't just compact, it's also very solid. This combination gives the Diamonds an extremely accurate sound quality as the cabinet doesn't flex or vibrate. Equally impressive are the drive units. A soft dome tweeter gives the clarity and smoothness of sound you'd expect from a more expensive speaker, while the woofer cone uses a carbon fibre type weave to offer extremely taut and responsive bass.
Surprisingly powerful
With a front port, these bass reflex speakers are punchier than you might expect and in no way could they ever be described as tinny. Over all, they may be small but the sound is grown-up, with excellent staging, realism and surprisingly powerful.
Hi-fi connections
It's not just the major aspects of the design that Wharfedale have got right, it's the details, too. Proper 4mm banana sockets will accept thick cable and offer the best type of connection. Threaded sockets at the rear make for secure and easy bracket attachment.
At their original launch price of £100 these speakers were clearly market leaders. Now we're offering them at this bargain price, the Diamond 9.0 speakers are a gem of a deal!

Great speakers for a little money
I bought a pair to replace my old Celestion 3's, one of which had been damaged. Easily as good, just smaller. Plenty of power handling, and great frequency response. At the Richer sounds price I may just get some more to upgrade my surround sound system.

Absolutely Brilliant
The speakers work perfectly with my second hand hifi setup, comprising a mix of Sony and Denon separates. Plenty of bass (actually had to turn the bass setting down), and even at low volumes, the speakers pack a punch, pushing the sound out far.
Additionally, the speakers looks great, and the instructions provided are easy to understand.
For a penny under £50 you cannot fault these speakers. Perhaps some foam feet would be the only improvement I could suggest.

Awesome value for money....BUT.....
There is a big HOWEVER coming, out of the box and attached to an amp or output source that is set entirely flat they sound pigging awful. Completely unbalanced and muddy as heck. Once adjusted the treble and bass you are absolutely in business though. I was aware of this from previous reviews and knew my amp would cope with the balance adjustments needed.

Great build quality, and excellent sound
As ever Richer Sounds can be trusted to deliver excellent products at every price level including on a tight budget. I cannot afford an audiophile system (much as I would love one), but does that mean I am not allowed to enjoy decent sounding music? Not when Richer Sounds exists! So thank you once again for keeping the music going for me!

Sound Great
I needed a new pair of speakers to replace my old Goodmans Maxims in my home office. These are very much better with full bodied sound and more detail. At £50 they are an absolute bargain. Service from Richer Sounds was excellent

Great for TV or Desktop PC and laptops
I bought this a couple of months ago to make the most of high quality music on internet. I had a 16 year old, still working Denon PMA-250SE integrated amp(also from Richersounds) doing nothing, apart from my main HiFi System.I decided to put it to good use. I connected my desktop PC to Denon driving Diamond 9s and wow...what a difference It's made. Sound is smooth and detailed although It can't compete with my main system speakers. Don't expect deep bass. Laws of Physics prohibit deep bass from tiny speakers as such.
Judging it on its bargain basement price and pint size, It will make an excellent speaker for TV, PC etc..
