Two greats - combined
Take the award-winning Audiolab 6000A amplifier, add the network connectivity from the acclaimed 6000N Play and you’ve got a highly talented combo of the two – the 6000A Play. This wireless streaming audio player provides the hub for all your music sources, plus the amplification – just add your choice of speakers and you’re ready to go.
DTS Play-Fi for effortless music streaming
DTS Play-Fi is a premium, wireless control system that brings everything under one 'roof'. Download the free app and you'll not only have access to Internet radio via Sirius XM but also popular music apps such as Spotify, Tidal, Deezer and Amazon Music. As well as streaming from music services, the 6000A Play also streams from NAS drives and PCs with DLNA support.
Plug in your CD, TV and games console
As well as streaming, the 6000A lets you hook up your other digital sources. Twin optical and coaxial input let you connect your TV, CD, Blu-ray/DVD and games console. Once connected, you not only benefit from the Audiolab’s award-winning amp tech but also the reference quality digital electronics – giving amazing clarity and detail.
Bluetooth your smartphone
For quick and easy connectivity with your smartphone, simply use the Bluetooth link. Ideal for smartphones, tablets and laptops with Bluetooth, this wireless connection gives easy access to music stored on your phone and music streaming services, such as Spotify, Tidal and Deezer.
And not forgetting your turntable
With all its digital connections, the 6000A Play still hasn’t forgotten about your analogue sources. As well as three line level inputs, there’s also a handy turntable input for decks with a MM (Moving Magnet) cartridge. The high quality, low noise phono pre-amp delivers a full-bodied balance that does justice to the warmth and depth of vinyl sound.
Award-winning, Audiolab sound
Using a substantial power supply, the 6000A Play has plenty of grunt. The Class AB amp produces 50 watts per channel, giving effortless, room-filling sound. The pre-amp section of the amp uses independent, low noise power supplies at critical stages – reducing distortion and increasing the detail. For powerful, life-like sound there’s little in its class to match the 6000A Play.
Digital filters tailor the sound
For a more tailored sound, the 6000A Play features a user-selectable digital filter. Select from Fast Roll-off, Slow Roll-off or Minimum Phase to adjust the sound precisely to your preference.
Excellent sound for your headphones
Incorporating a dedicated headphone amp with current-feedback circuitry, the 6000A Play makes the ideal driver for your headphones. Dynamic and detailed sounding, the 6000A’s headphone amp is a big step-up on most amps. It also offers ample power, so it drives even the most current-hungry ‘phones.
More than just a single zone music streamer, Play-Fi offers the potential for full multi-room music. Simply add other Play-Fi compatible sources and you'll quickly be able to build up a comprehensive music system around your home - all under the control of a powerful app.
For a networking amp combo that gets the very best from all your music speakers, just add speakers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Musicman77 from Quality piece of kit! Purchased this and the CDT Transport at the same time on line. I was a little worried reading on-line reviews about connectivity and the Play-Fi app, but eventually stuck to my guns and boy am I pleased that I did. Connected up to a new Audiolab 6000 CDT using a digital co-ax cable (CDT purchased at the same time from Richer Sounds on line), hooked up the speakers, connected a jack to jack cable to the trigger connectors and I was ready to go. Unlike most males, decided to read the instruction booklet first. Instructions were really clearly laid out. First downloaded the Play-Fi app to my Samsung tablet. Then connected an Ethernet cable from my router to the unit (before switching the power on). Opened the Play-Fi app, switched on (note that Audiolab do not include AAA batteries for the remote) and whilst the unit was flashing started the Play-Fi setup. The unit connected seamlessly to my router and Play-Fi discovered the unit quickly. Within a few minutes I had everything up and running. Software updates were also applied during this process... neat. Sound quality is outstanding whether listening to CDs (the 6000 CDT is an awesome partner to the 6000A Play), vinyl through my new Debut Carbon Evo or the Play-Fi App. Spotify and Amazon Music still sound great (even at the compressed bit-rates), and that's before I've even considered Hi-Res through Tidal, Qobuz or Amazon Music HD streaming services. Internet radio through Play-Fi is much better than I'd expected and Bluetooth performance is also top-notch. All in all, I am so pleased I stuck to my original choice. Totally satisfied with the Audiolab 6000A Play & 6000 CDT combo!

Rated 5 out of 5 by davidnash from Excellent, flexible amp and excellent service Delighted with sound quality, ease of set up and flexibility - using with Audiolab CD transport, some streaming form Deezer and bluetooth direct from iPad. Pity it won't access music on a Mac hard disk without a direct USB connection(it will do so on a PC) but that is an issue for all DTS streamers and knew that when I bought it. Also excellent advice from Fraser in Edinburgh store and came next day as promised!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Sim20 from Sounds good, looks good, solid build I bought this 2 weeks ago and have hooked up to some B&W610, Project 1 turntable and the CDT. Easy to set up the WiFi, but I then connected direct to the router. Using the DTS Play-Fi app. All sounds good. My Speakers are a little old and need a bigger room, probably don’t do the amp justice. A Kraftwerk CD sounded great. One niggle was neither bit of kit had any cables so had to wait till I bought a digital cable to set up the CD. As I had analogue connectors before I just hadn’t thought about it. My next decision is purchase of WIFI speakers. This is where things seem a little more difficult as DTS play fi suggest a large speaker choice but finding them is difficult unless you are in the US. Play-Fi web searches don’t throw up too much and I and not wishing to spend a fortune. Not a biggy though as I bought the Amp to play Vinyl and the added streaming in one box simply made sense.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Davidemel from Great sound but the app is not the best Bought two weeks ago and it has breathed new life in my Rega Planar turntable and 20 year old BW speakers. Good features mean that it is literally all you need. Was pretty easy to set up. The only issue I have with it is that the app is clunky and despite decent WiFi it can drop out. Can use Bluetooth so not a disaster. Purchase and delivery process from RS was very good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Unclad Brain from Two great products combined I was aiming to buy the 6000A and 6000N - when I saw that Audiolab had squeezed both into the 6000A Play I had to give it a shot. Easy set up and vibrant, detailed sound. It also cuts down on wiring/cabling as I just need the optical input from the 6000CDT and I'm away and lost in a crystal clear world of music.

Rated 4 out of 5 by changingman2001 from Excellent all-in-one design and sound Bought this to replace my old 8000c pre-amp. The main reason for the update was that this amp is so much better connected. Digital optical and coaxial connections, plus an integral streaming player via either WiFi or wired mean this is a very well specced amp for the money. The only negative here is that Audiolab have not included HDMI connections...but to me that's not a big issue. Sonically, the 6000a Play is a very clean and detailed amp. It does have good bass, but this is always controlled and (compared to my old 8000c) instruments sound that bit more realistic and spacious. Vocals are clear and, on good recordings, convey the breathing and even the acoustics of the venue in which the recording took place. It gives a good 3D soundstage - again an improvement on my old amp in this respect. As a streaming player, for the money, this is brilliant value and certainly should be on your shortlist. Finally, also in terms of value, buying the 6000a Play combines the 6000a amp and the 6000n streamer into one box and saves £250 in the process. The fact that they have breathed new life into my elderly Acoustic Energy 109s is an added bonus. If you are in the market for speakers as well, I think they work best with Dali Oberon 5 or 7s. I found the Monitor Audio Silver 200s just too detailed at the expense of mood and were a bit bass light for me, although they were very atmospheric. The Dali's though just hit that sweet spot. But for now, my AEs will do just nicely.
