Stunning Sound & Great Value Good Service from RS
I have been considering a separate dac for my No2 cd and digital tuner for sometime and after some research settled on the Audiolab MDAC+. I have had good dealing with R/S before. I bought the unit via telesales and Craig the advisor was very helpful. I have now been running the unit for nearly a fortnight. It sounded good out of the box but after 100Hrs of use it is even better and still improving. I was pleasantly surprised that I received a free 6 year warranty. Very unusual in the world of hi fi. My only negative comment is that an my initial contact I was promised a price match which was withdrawn when availability was confirmed

I wish I bought one years ago
I bought this 3 months ago and it has transformed my life
I hardly watch TV any more . I just relish listening to old albums streamed from a ultra hi res steaming sight.
It has a fantastic headphone amp which I put to great use in the evenings. With a good set of headphones the detail is just amazing.
I hear new things every time I turn it on even with albums I have listen to hundreds of times before.
It seems a lot for a DAC and pre amp but if the rest of your system is up to it. it's a game changer

Reliable Richer !!
I go back to the early days of discovering decent hi-fi and Richer Sounds were always a part of that journey. They seemed to stock real world products, were happy to let you browse and demo stuff at the affordable end of the market.
Just recently my original Audiolab Mdac needed replacing after many years of faithful service and after looking around at the latest dacs from China ( Topping, SML etc) I decided that for my budget I didn't want to have to read a flight manual of instructions to get a sound that most reviewers were saying sounded thin. I mostly listen to HD 600's at night via Toslink, surfing You Tube and found that the M Dac had always brought them to life.
Thanks to superb service from Tom at the Plymouth branch I received my new M Dac Plus the next day, and after plugging it in and was getting some superb sounds straight out of the box. In my case it was great to get up and running so quickly without any fuss and just start enjoying the music.
The new model has an improved functionality over the old, built in power suppy, better remote, and feels better built in use.
The sound is familiar (same sabre chip) but also better implemented through an improved headphone amp. I'm hearing clarity, speed, searation, soundstage, tight bass, superb mid range and a top end that isn't fatiguing ( using mostly digital source and files ) this is important to my ears. The acid test for this is how much I have revisited all my favorite tracks and am delighted to be enthused over all my old as well as new discoveries as I approach my 70th birthday.
So thanks for Tom for the excellent service and deal he gave me, the prompt delivery and the new M Dac itself which has rejuvinated my love for great music played through quality hi- fi gear.
And finally thanks Richer Sounds for always being there over the years with real world products at sensible prices. Now to save up for better headphones!! I can feel some Focal Radiance Bentley's would do the trick!!

Lovely sounding DAC, build quality fantastic
This was purchased to replace an audiolab 6000a amplifer. Having gone fully digital with my sources I didnt need the analogue inputs on the 6000a. This DAC sounds sublime and looks the part. Easy to use and with balanced XLR outputs into my monoblock amps, it produces a clean and spacious sound. Lovely little remote as well.
Overall really happy with this purchase. I did a great deal of research into DACs before buying this. Having has the audiolab 6000a for years and loving it, I figured audiolab was the way to go.

Improvement?
I got this 2 weeks ago and do notice a difference in sound quality using my Rega Apollo cd played as a transport. The sound is more defined with a touch more bass.
The only downside for me is that there is only a one year warranty unless a 5 year one is purchased for 10% of the items cost. Most other hifi suppliers give at least 2, some 5.
